What happened to hi-bird?
When I bought my hi-bird it was one of the most common chinabikes on the net--a significant factor for me as I figured aftermarket parts and parted-out bikes would be available.
Are the same models now marketed under a different name or have the hi-bird bikes just stopped coming in? Also, does anyone know what's the most similar to the dual-sport 250 from a big-3 parts perspective? |

Hi,
I would guess that the brand you are describing is one that someone brought in and used their own brand name. Look for the VIN tag on the bike to see who the real manufacturer was. As far as the parts it is more than likely a Honda clone as most of the bike out of China are. There are some exceptions to that but the majority are similar to old Honda engines. All that said I doubt you will have any trouble getting most of the parts you need unless the bike is very unique to one factory which again I really doubt. Cheers, Art

They are still around, although I think the worldwide economy sidelined them a little bit. Their US headquarters is in Ok City, OK and their site is:
www.hbmoto.com The last time I called them several months ago, they had some of their old sport ATV's in stock, as well as their new utility ATV and cool looking chopper that is on their site, but their new-style dual sport was not available, and I suspect still is not. Try the link and see what they are up to now. |

I have wondered the same thing, the China market is a bit fickle. It is my observation that there is some level of internal marketing problems among the China manufactures.
I have a 200 hi bird and I like it a bunch. |

My totally worn out Hi-bird250 is still a lot faster than my new lf200-iii. However, the frame vibrates too much and the exhaust is crap. The swing arm bushing is shot too.
