Cool write up and great pics. Despite you now owning a DR650 I hope to still see you on this website. Like you, I have a DR650 and while I don't have a chinabike, I really like the people on this website. The way I look at it, unless it's something specific to the DR650 most of the advice and subjects on this website apply to my bike as well and you don't seem to get all the garbage and rudeness as you do with many other motorcycle websites. Seems like whenever a disagreement starts to heat up, the people as well as the moderators cool things off and work together. As you mentioned in your article, along with the no-cost added add ons, such as racks and gear indicator, the quality seems to be getting better on the newer chinabikes I've seen and as long as they keep the prices low I see a bright future for them here in North America.

Hahahah, yeah, I'm upgrading that piece by piece.

I want to do some more writing on SAGA's 250 Enduro (probably known by another name in the US, it's produced by Benzhou), but I need to find a mag interested.

Cool, I'm interested in the Saga 250. I feel your pain with the riding gear... I quit smoking and put on a few pounds, now none of mine fits! (except the helmet and gloves) 8O So now I gotta buy all new stuff.

Thanks, Brad.

I was confused by the labels on the scooters, thought they all came from the same factory. I should have figured out that they don't.

GY-5 ARTICLE

Hey Zac,Thanks for your honest evaluation of the 2007 gy-5. I also have the exact same model that I got for half that price with 91 kilometres on it,but someone else put it together,a dealer. Just the other day I took the pipes off for the second time to wirewheel and re-paint BBQ FLAT BLACK.I also did the halogen 45/45 watt bulb upgrade. I plan on changing the fork oil and taking apart the suspension linkage to pack with as much grease as possible. I could not find a grease fitting anywhere, and the lack of assembly or repair and maintainance manuals in any language, let alone ENGLISH,simply leads me to believe that the manufacturers want you,the consumer, to know as little as possible about these machines! Yup, built in to their low price sales strategy is the mentality that does not want you to fix something when it breaks, but simply buy the newly upgraded GY-6! DO NOT GET ME WRONG!!! These are very durable and reliable machines! Simply put,we as NORTH AMERICANS,are not afforded the luxury or common decency of repair manuals! TOO MUCH KNOWLEDGE COULD JUST BE TOO DANGEROUS FOR THE FREE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT! HA HA! THANKS AGAIN, SINCERELY, RICK SAVIDGE.
