My Repair List

So I have this 2007 KPX Z-200 motorcycle. From what I gather, KPX Motors was an Arizona dealer that went out of business. Seeing other pictures of motorcycles here in China Riders, the KPX Z-200 looks a lot like some Roketas and Jetmotos. Are those based on Honda bikes?

Anyways, I've gone over the bike and made a preliminary list of things to do before riding and getting her registered:
  • Add turn signals, wiring and flasher relay
    Lube clutch cable
    Lube throttle cable
Clean and lube throttle twist grip
    Clean carb and throttle linkage
    Replace front brake cable
Not too bad. Now here's my wish list:
  • New rear sprocket for highway speeds
Repaint plastics (either everything blue or some type of copper orange)
    Fabricate larger luggage rack
    Fabricate frame to support panniers
    FMF muffler
    Larger capacity fuel tank
Remove KPX Motors silkscreen from seat
I think that about covers it. Not too ambitious. Did I miss anything?

That's a pretty ambitious list. How do you plan to remove the logo from the seat?

Do you have a title for the bike, I would make sure it can be registered before I go through all the work.

I forgot to mention get wider foot pegs.

No, I don't have title, yet. I have 2 bill of sales: one from my friend and one from the guy in Arizona that sold it to him. It was never titled. I spoke to the DMV here and all they're wanting is a licensed motorcycle mechanic to sign off on its roadworthiness. For that, I have to complete the first list as turn signals are required for on road use.

But you're right, Buzzkill, title and registration first. Then the farkling begins.

My dad just used some dirt grease and wax remover on a paper towel I believe it was to take the Lifan off the seat on his bike.

It sounds like you have a good plan. Getting your turn signals installed will be an interesting project to watch; I hope to learn a lot from your experience with the turn signals. Did you find any wires coming from your turn signal switch?

I did have a look at the switch assembly this evening and low and behold there are wires attached to the turn signal switch! I didn't take a picture of it, but I will when I document the installation of the turn signals.

There's an orange wire connected to the left turn switch, a gray wire connected to the off position and a light blue wire connected to the right turn signal switch. I didn't follow where the wires went because it got too dark to continue. So I sat there and dreamed of the possibilities.

I used acetone on a rag to take the logo off the seat on my bike. A couple of wipes and it was gone like magic!

Hmmmmmmmm. I might try that, but I'll try it on the inside of the seat where it's not visible to make sure it does not damage the material first.

That is good news. Now you need to follow those wires to see where they terminate. These wires probably end in a connector located in a wiring nexus located near the headlamp assembly.

ecabo.

I have the Roketa. I picked up the Clymer manual M318-4 for the XL/XR/TLR 125 - 200, 1979 - 2003. It helps.

Check your fuel lines & such. The rubber stinks.

Good luck.

John
