The Monowheel
Link to video:
Caught just a glimps of this on TV this weekend. Had to check it out. It appears to be quite unstable especially when stopping. If you notice the rider spent alot of time with his feet down and he rolled through all the stop signs. Still pretty awsome idea though. |

Seems like a (dangerous) answer to a question nobody asked... :?
Clever engineering though.

Pretty good pile up at the end too. If I recall correctly he got hurt pretty bad in that crack up. He had a smaller one powered by a small (snowmobile?) engine as well. Be a fun one to ride with long hair!

Ouch!! I did not even think about that angle. Getting your hair caught would ceartainly scalp you. |

Did you follow the link to the commercials they are in?
Nice concept, but the stability when stopping seems questionable? Allen

I think it is too difficult to ride to be considered street safe.
Just not stable at low speeds and braking.

The smaller one did seem more reasonable though. Would like to see a loop as the rider of the smaller one hinted at. Wonder why they utilized a lawnmower based engine instead of motorcycle based? Would seem to me a steadier throttle control could be achieved with a motorcycle engine.

Amazing how someone can have such a strong engineering mind to design and make something like that, but then not have enough common sense to wear some proper gear to test it out.
What's he doing wearing jeans, a muscle shirt and half a helmet?! Lucky he's still walking the earth IMO. |
