I'd consider 5 MPH within specs . Even my Gold Wing is off by about 7% reading optimistically. Just the way it was programmed for some reason.

Q, with its larger than stock front tire, reads accuratly.

Go figure.

In any even, your bike's got gumption!

Even with assistance from the wind, 79.3 mph is good performance from a 400cc bike, Think. It seems most of the Japanese bikes also have optimistic speedometers. After putting on a larger, 21-inch front wheel, my Zong's speedometer is accurate. My Honda XR650L seems to have an accurate speedometer, but I need to check it against my GPS receiver. Keep riding and enjoying the good weather! Winter is quickly descending upon Idaho. :(

Factory states that top speed is 120 km/h. I have not used GPS as of now but will try that next week if we do not get snow first. I think that bike goes that 120 easily, my anyway after that new carb with pumper.
It picks up speed much faster now than with stock carb.
I have not really tried top speed because i am scared to take it too high rpm and maybe blow up motor. I guess that there is rev limiter anyway ?

That bike was TDE202Z1, 150W motor.
You have to keep pedalling, even slowly, that motor keeps working.
When you start going from standstill, its taking few pedallings before motor starts assisting.
This is way in European bikes anyway.

Fish, there will be speedo parts out there, we just have to figure it out. Can you start with a photo that shows both ends of the cable?

If the cable itself broke, could a competent welder braze it back together?

This bike shares many similarities with the Honda XR motorcycles. I'm sure many Honda parts will fit these bikes.

Good idea but probably not. I tried this when my Q's speedo cable broke. Because the cable is really a wound spring and vey fine it could not be brazed effectively. I replaced Q's cable with an off the shelf Suzuki DR200SE cable.

Praise God. Great news. It certainly took a while and a lot of time and work on your part. What about the engine case?
