I did a brief search, and you can find a lot of these HID conversion kits selling for less than $100. I have two questions. Are these kits legal, and how well do they hold up to the vibrations induced by trail riding?

This is very interesting! Maybe I can put one in my KZ. Right now the headlight is like a 2 D cell flashlight. It must be the original 33 year old bulb in there!

I believe the HID Xenon bulbs use arc lighting, instead of filament lighting. If this is so, then the vibration from trail riding should not hasten their demise. In fact, the manufacturers claim the HID bulbs last three to five times as long as halogen bulbs.
http://www.xenonoptics.com/faq.php Many people are spending $20 for H4, halogen bulbs. Taking this into account, spending $60 for an HID conversion kit sounds quite reasonable. Spud

Correct Spud !
The main reason why i bought HID is becouse of frequently changeing standard bulbs (yes,i do sometime trailriding). Yes, HID bulb does not have any wire (like standard one), it is filled with gas. |
