Do you know what size bolt this is? I have a Zongshen 250 sportsbike that looks to have the same bolt, but I can't seem to get the right size. Also looking for a manual for this bike, so if you have one, please let me know. Thanks!

Old news but there were some XT225 and TW200 engines destroyed because Yamaha had the wrong filters in the box.

Be sure and do the oil flow check like Spud suggested.

Can you post a photo of the bolt in question? You can get a service manual, and a parts manual for your 250cc sport bike from Zongshen America.

Thanks for adding the good information, Vince! Indeed, the Zong needs the oil filter with four holes in the end, as shown on the left filter in the photograph.

Oil Change

Just been looking at the Zongshen and Yamaha manuals on oil change and I noticed they reccommend different oil types Zongshen says sf 15w/40 oil and the Yamaha TW200 manual reccommends SAE 20W40 type SE or SAE 10W30.

Are these oils pretty much the same thing or is there a difference and if so is one better? I'm not too concerned through as Im sure they all pretty similar.

Welcome; we are glad you joined us! You're correct; these oils are pretty similar. The ambient temperature is the most important factor when choosing the weight of a motor oil. Someone operating his bike in the heat of an Arizona summer might choose a 20W/50 motor oil. Someone operating his bike in the cold of an Minnesota winter might choose a 5W/40 motor oil. I use 15W/40, diesel motor oil the entire year in my Zong, and it does an excellent job in both cold and heat.

Oddly my YZ calls for 20-40 which I don't know I've ever heard of. I'm running 10-40 that I use in all my bikes. I figure when it gets hot its the TOP number (40) that matters. The lower (10 or 20 in this case) number applies to when the engine is cold.

Therefore I figure I'm good to go.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe you are exactly correct, Doc. I would certainly do the same as you, and use either 10W/40, or 15W/40 motor oil.
