Thanks for the link, Brockway! That's a great deal; the list price is $45. This particular speedometer also retains setting for 2 wheel sizes. Therefore, you could have this speedometer calibrated for a second, different sized, front wheel.

Chain links removed and sprocket installed. New top speed 64.31 mph, 60 is the new 55 as far as guaranteed top speed goes. RPM's at 60 were ~8600 before, now its 7600. Filled up, gas mileage was 49.2 mpg.

Also installed some cheap bar end mirrors to replace the useless (and cracked) round originals. They are pretty small, but at least I can see behind me.

And with that, bike's done. All my mods are installed, and I find myself tempted by the CBR250R's at the Honda dealership, the red and silver looks really nice in person. Especially with the 1.9% apr promotion they have until July. But I think I can just wait till I'm not in Sicily any more and pick up a used ABS model for less.

Inspiring project! Would have loved to get one and done similar stuff, but the TMEC is pretty hard to find at the moment, so waiting for my DB07

You might be better off, which one is the DB07? TMEC's look pretty awesome, but there are a lot of little quality issues I've noticed while taking it apart. The seat bolt holes didn't line up so they drilled new holes, the R/R bracket broke off leaving it dangling until I noticed it while installing the mikuni carb, one fork cover wouldn't stay in the slide rail (and eventually fell off), a bolt on the brake lever stripped out (replaced with a longer one), speedometer was wrong because of the 17" wheels, and the speedo cable broke. I don't much care for the rear brake pedal shape either, the whole assembly is too wobbly and needs me to angle my foot to hit it. Might be par for the course for China bikes, but its all worked out now mostly.

On the plus side the brakes are amazing (2 pots front and rear), the tank is 3.1 gallons, the seat is wide and supportive, it came with a nice sturdy rack, the red frame paint looks great, it came with an actual Yuasa battery, and the 17" rims will let me put on Bridgestone BT45's whenever these tires wear out. TMEC should have shipped all the bikes with the chrome rims, they look less garish. Engine seems to be loosening up now, top speed has been creeping up, up to 66 mph now. Bike only has like 300 miles on it so maybe I'll be able to hit 70 by the time its broken in. The one last thing I'd like to install is a quick turn throttle. Having to do nearly a full turn for 15 horsepower seems excessive, its not like its gonna jump out from under me.

Went ahead and did the H4 headlight upgrade while I was at it. Got the $10 high temp socket(s) and dremeled out notches so the filament bar was on top. I've noticed the low beam is kind of dim. Should be fine for day use though. High beam glows great, tons of white light down the road.

I was weak. And I qualified for the 1.9% financing. So TMEC is now on Craiglist. $800 seems fair, right?

New CBR250R thread here.

I can't say I blame you, Brockway. The Honda CBR250R is a wonderful little motorcycle. Thanks for posting the new thread!
