gy200... will it hold up?

hi everyone im fairly new to the forum and am thinking of buying a lifan gy200. but first i have a few questions. i drive 50 miles a day, 5 days a week. im planning on riding this bike that distance. also i would be riding at a constant 60mph the whole trip. so im asking, will the bike hold up? how well do they cruise at 60mph? and will it be reliable enough to drive 50 mi every day? thanks for any input and happy riding!

my parents and sam both live 20 to 25 miles away from me i'm out that way at least twice a week on average i cruise anywhere from 60 to 70 almost the whole ride . i know thats not every day but i think i can be done if you maintain it.

It should hold up but you will need to maintain it and you'll need to be rather mechanically inclined...These bikes are designed around pretty old technology and very easy to work on...
I would stay away from any Highway riding though...Anyway, Welcome to the site, there is alot of great info here...

I plan to ride mine about 45 miles a day, but at speed around 50. I did it today going about 45, but I am still waiting on my new sprocket. I think the bike will hold up if you keep it maintained.

I drive my Lifan all day at 60 mph, That is only due to speed limits and I don't need a ticket. But truly it will cruise at 65 no problem at all, I am running a 17 front and a 42 rear and my Fat #%$ weighs 226lbs! The revs are 6000 at 60mph and 6400 at 65mph. As suggested by other members highway is not advised!! I run full synthetic and it truly makes a differance in the overall smoothness of the bike.

I am still in the newness stage, but I plan to go full synthetic at about 1000 miles. The bike is needing about 7200rpm for 50 right now.

As you may have read in the other threads I strongly advise on the purchase of a Real Lifan, not a clone or a Zongshen. These bikes seem to be giving the owners the least amount of troubles and parts are easier to get for them.

I like my Roketa, but I am not sure I would suggest you get the GY for a 50 mile/day commuter. Would it hold up? Probably, but they are not even close to comfortable enough for that kinda mileage. For me, I know my a$$ would be aching putting on 250 miles a week. IMO you'd be better off taking that $1500 and picking up a used small cc Japanese motorcycle that was made for cruising. If you intend to commute, AND trail ride some, then the GY would be the better choice.

Ditto about the comfort. If you get your seat foam redone it's doable. I usually like to take a break after 30min/30miles which ever comes first.

It's a tough decision for sure. For me, I knew I was looking for a commuter bike, short distance, but also something trailable to ride with my son and his bike (China 110cc). Taking a chance on a nice looking dual sport bike for $1000 seemed reasonable. My big concern was being able to register it, but for that price I couldn't even buy a second hand trail bike around here, so it was a pretty safe bet and I have no regrets.

Just to add about the no regrets... I've been so happy with ours I'm in the process of buying 2 more (the less expensive DB-07 this time). One is for my girlfriend and the other is for me I know that there will come a day when these will not be had at such a discount. So for the price I'm getting them I've decided to have one for whenever the other calls it quits. Plus, it will be our thing we'll do together just like when Dad and I put ours together and modified them. These will be matching BLACK whereas the others I got with Dad are matching BLUE. I may just leave this one in stock DS trim and have the ROKETARD as the commuting street machine. At least for now.
