DR350

Just had this delivered today . 400 Dollar craigslist find . IT will need more work than i had hoped ,But i don't think it will be a loss . engine will crank over and it has spark . i can not tell if it will run on carb cleaner yet ,my jump box is to weak for a good crank . Carb will need some work and i can hear a rattle in the gas tank . it came with no keys ,so i had to jump the ignition switch and it has a locked gas cap

Thanks for posting the rebuild thread, Racer. That bike is worth far more than $400 in parts alone. We will enjoy watching your restoration.

Amazing! If you have the time that is the Find Of The Year. Did you have the DMV or law enforcement run the serial number?

If it is title-able I'd be inclined to build it and enjoy and/or sell. If not part it out and profit. 8)

I am mostly inclined to part it out , left side does not look as good as the right side .been layed down , missing plastics ,front master cyclinder seems stuck . i think it has sat a really long time . it has a cv carb , the butterfly was oxidized in place . chains rusted badly . adding up what i'd have to spend . i still want to see if i can make it run . i had a thought of a transplant engine for the viva ,but it's a dry-sump oil system . the frame is the tank . not sure i want that large a project . everytime i start working on the 85 goldwing ,i get side tracked on something else. believe me when i say, the wife keeps reminding me of that fact

now i have some good news . the carb is off and soaking ,butterfly is now free ,if i can get the screws out, i can clean it up . Picked up a battery charger at the local pawn shop that has engine start mode . with the carb off i decided to spray carb cleaner in the intake boot and give it a crank . it ran 2 seconds at a time ,but now i know it will run . odometer shows 4600 miles . but who knows

That's good news. Even if he can't find the title, the government should have a record of it, and should be able to provide you with a new title.

brings up a question . i did not ask if the title was in his name . he only said he has it . there could be a 4th party involved
