Great article, Zac! Thanks for sharing it with us. I have trouble swallowing the claimed 43.5hp, but I bet it's knocking on 40. Do you know what the engine is based on?

I like it! I think the price will need to be adjusted downward. The Xingyue 400 is about half the price (and possibly better than it used to be from its Pitster Pro days) which is realistically the competition for this bike. If I am financing, which I would have to do for the Suzuki or CCW, I would pick the DRZ.

Based on, or rather completely copied from, the Honda CRF 450X. It has a Yamaha style headlight, though. The Honda website says their 450X MSRP starts at $8440 so the Hooligan under cuts it by $2440.

Man, that is a shameless copy! It's one way to ride a CRF450 on the street.

I couldn't believe how much. It looks like they took a Honda and repainted it. Of course, it has turn signals but dang! This is where question of part availability would defently not be an issue.

It's obvious where the Chinese received their inspiration. However, looks can certainly be deceiving. I wouldn't count on parts compatibility between this bike and the Honda, until somebody proves it. Also, given the small price difference between the two bikes, I would certainly choose the Honda. Nevertheless, I'm glad the Chinese are manufacturing this motorcycle.

You can get a SM Christini for less than the Honda at $8195. The DS is cheaper at $7695

http://www.christini.com/bikes/christini-awd-450sm

They actually have the Honda motor. Oh yeah, they also happen to be AWD.

The Christini is certainly an interesting motorcycle. However, I didn't see Christini claiming their bikes had Honda engines at their website; perhaps I missed it. Do we know for certain the Chrisitini bikes have Honda engines?

According to Canada Motoguide.com they use a detuned Honda 450X.

By the way, the Christini and the CCW have the same clutch cover. Some other bits like the exhaust and turn signals are the same also. Are they all Honda engines? Where is the CRF450X made?
