A REAL Honda engine

Does anyone know what honda engines fit into these things, or where they can be purchased? I think with a rear shock change, some frame gusseting and a true honda engine these things would perform very well. THe rear suspension is totally doable, maybe aluminum rims and some einforcement to the frame. Some would say, why not just buy one from the big 4 rather than spend money on this china copy. Well, this way I can spend money over time, insurance stays the same, and pride of workmanship/uniqueness. So, anyone know what motors work?

What is wrong with the china motor? I agree with the other improvements, but mine runs great.

The motor in mine looks alot like the xl185 on the bottom end and I am sure most of the about 150-230 sized motors will be similar.

Replacement Honda engines cost as much as a new Honda bike.

To be quite honest, the chinese motor performs just fine in the Honda chassis.

I think we all know the shortcomings of the chinese chassis, but there is one definite benefit - road registration. Setting a dirt bike up for road use varies from state to state, but it seems once the china biker gets his MSO straight, it's no big problem.

If you're gonna ride dirt only, find an XR200 basket case and swap the engine in. Get the '87 - '92 bike for longer travel suspension.

Wouldnt it be cool to weld the steering tube from you chinese bike to the XR2 frame? Best of both worlds!

With enough money you could make anything fit. I think it would be more unique and much more interesting to build up one of these chinese motors. What I'd really like to see is even a mildly built Chinese 200/250/300 with the entire bike tipping the scales at 200lbs or less.

The Lifan 163FML2 dropped right into the XR200 frame with minimal modifications. Weighs in at 216 {plus any additional weight added by the Lifan motor}

Performs well enough for a 2nd place season of enduro racing.

Lifan motor is not a Honda but it's pretty damn reliable and a heck of alot cheaper...

It's awfully close. Just going by sound and feel, I'd swear it was a Honda.

A Hongda?

Honda is great and all, but their name is getting bigger then their products... Ive had 2 Honda cars that had issues. Both were less then 5yrs old and under 60k miles.

There are 300cc quads out now. I'm wondering who will be the first to fit one of these in their 200cc frame.

I spotted a 400atv online the other day, but I didn't bookmark it and can't find it now, but I'm pretty sure it was a Zongchen engine. But not all of the site was in engrish.

400cc's is where I want to be, I hope I have the money when the first 400 enduro's start coming in from China....
