larger fuel tank?
Has anyone put a larger tank on thier china bike? Im looking for one for my shineray/roketa db07a.... I want to do some longer riding and have more of a reserve... Anyone know if any of the acerbis stuff would come close to fitting?

I would rather not have to carry extra cans....LOL when i go out riding i prefer to travel light... I would rather have the gas in the tank than on my back...

With a MIG welder, you could fit any tank you wish. You could try a universal Clarke tank, but I suspect that it wouldn't hold much more than your current tank.

BTW, you don't need to carry the cans in a backpack. Quick Fist straps allow you to strap the cans to the fork tubes, and they're cheap and durable.

Plus the weight is the same no matter where it is on the bike, and you don't have to take the extra gas on any trip that does not require it and the cans will work with any machine you have.
A desert tank for my YZF and the KLR would have been in the area of $500 and I'd lose the slimness of both those bikes that I like so much, especially in the technical terrain.

so i am gonna bump a 2 yr old thread here...LOL finally getting around to finding larger tanks.... i found a killer deal (40 shipped)on a stock 1997 dr650 tank, that looks like dimensions should be dang close.... and will bump fuel capacity from 1.1 gal to 3.4.... probably gonna clean and paint it beffore it goes on...

if this doesnt work the way you want, have you considered the new hawk tanks? they are 3.3 gal.

i am REALLLLYYYYY rusty on my photobucket manipulations, and this was a poor effort due to bing done on lunchbreak...LOL but to get an idea.... maybe.... see how close that seat angle is?

i have not yet, but would like to.... just havent had the time working on it on my breaks at work...LOL amazing the things you can come up with from a tractor shop... the blue is a darn close match to my bike... but its ford tractor blue...LOL free can thats been sitting in my paint cabinet forever... theres also a can of clearcoat in there, not sure if its fuel solvent or not yet... gotta do some tests...LOL
