New Poster with a New Bike!!

HI EVERYONE -- Love this forum and I have been lurking long enough!!

Bike is New, Well, New to me -- The guy I bought it off of bought it at an Auction in Oklahoma City and then decided he did not think it was powerful enough. It had 46 miles when I got it for 660 dollars (paid him 400 until he presents the MSO whch is supposed to be coming in 2 weeks)

Here are the specs

Looks VERY much like VIVA VX200S but the forks are not inverted

Disc Brakes front and Rear

Electric/Kick Start


The side plastics say KMX200 and motorsports RSC (can't find anything on the net concerning this wording other than for KMX200 being a kawasaki too in the past

The motor says JL163FML (not 163FML-2 which I wonder what the difference is??)

Owners Manual he got with it indicates Chongqing Huansong Industries Group Co. Ltd and has a pic of a bike that looks the same but wording on body plastic says GY200 The front of the manual says OPERATIONAL MANUAL HS125GY/HS150GY/HS200GY Back of manual gives websites www.hsmotor.com.cn and www.globalsources.com/cqmotor.co

He said that he thought it was a bike from a company that went out of business and assets were being auctioned off.

I had read on here that you can buy these in bulk and get whatever names on the side you want.

The thing runs well .. but at 7000 rpm is only going 40mph (according to the cycle speedometer)

I did check the rear sprocket and it is a 56 spock rear --

Can I change that to a 45 and still keep the same chain? I really would like to be more like 55mph at 6500 rpm ... Is that achievable?

Welcome to our site. I have been trying to get to the bottom of who makes what and this is what I can come up with:

There are about 6 or so physical manufacturers who make the frames, engines, etc. There are hundreds, maybe whittled down to dozens, of "manufacturers" who buy these parts from the big guys, and piece their own "brand" together. Maybe most of them have the ability to mold their own plastics which sets them apart from others? I linked through the HS site which linked me to the US HS site, and it shows them as ATV reps of the Chinese company, and do not show dirt bikes.

This brings me to the next bit of info pieced together. The US DOT/EPA laws have only recently gone into effect. In other words, these hundreds of companies could send their bikes here up till last year, and now, this is no longer true, as the bikes have to pass EPA at the least to be off-roadable, and DOT to be streetable. Some companies have done so, such as LIfan, Zongshen, Shineray. So there will be many "orphaned" Chinese bikes for years to come, such as what you purchased. The good news is that since all the bikes come from essentially the same molds, the parts will interchange.

You can change both front and rear sprockets and keep your chain, though in time you may choose to replace that as well. I know nothing of your air standards, I'm canadian eh? Enjoy the bike.

I have a 17/45 combo. You will need to shorten the chain or order a shorter one. The stock chains are not the greatest. I bought a shorter bikemaster chain for $16. I don't remember how many links it took, but I had to remove a few more. Chain breakers are cheap to get or take the chain to a hardware store or bike shop and use theirs.

The 45T will get you the RPM you are after. 60MPH is about 7K for me. I ran WOT for about 40 miles down I-85 today at 9K.

Chain is a 428H

Well I now know my chain is a 428H and the rear sprocket is a 56 tooth sprocket

It says in the owners manual that the Primary ratio is 4.056 so with a 56 rear that means the front is a 14 right?

If true this accounts for the really low top end right? Small front and large rear equals low top end?

If so then a change to a 45 rear may not give me 60mph at 6500rpm i am thinking

Can I just change to a 35 rear and get the speed i need and if so what chain would I need to buy to replace the 428H if at all

With a 35 rear you might have problems taking off and also will have no off-road ability. I think the 45T rear is about it for still going off-road. Now that is going with a 17t front. A 14t front will work with a 35rear.

I would pull the cover off the front sprocket and count the teeth, before making a decision.

Thanks Kato ... I'll check the front tonight ---

If I go with the 45 do you think the 428h chain will still work fine?

Do you have a model number for the 45 I should order from jtsprockets?

IMHO, for my bike, when I did front and rear sprocket changing, the front sprocket was much easier to do. Adding 1 to the front is like taking 3 teeth from the rear sprocket. (Princess math .) When I did it, I added 2 to the front, and took 4 teeth from the rear. Overall there was very little difference in chain length. I was able to keep my stock chain, till I got tired of it stretching. 4.056 ratio, man you could go vertical like the Ghost Rider.

The part number is in the dual sport cross-reference sticky at the top. I ordered one to fit a honda xl185. It fit fine. Also they are for the 428 chain. My stock chain was way too long after the swap. I would suggest just buying a shorter chain too or investing a chain breaker.

The front is a 14 tooth sprocket

It apears that the front sprocket is as big as it can get without hitting the cover.

If I got a 15 or 16 then the circumference increases ... correct?

I already have a 428H chain so Kado your sayiing if I went from 14/56 to 14/45 I would need it to shortened or replaced?

Yeah, Lots of torque! But it goes through all 5 gears in 10ft 8O

That will give you about 2.4 to 1. Pretty high, but fine for all street use and light trail.

Actuall 2.571 to 1 (14 front 36 rear)

Hope that will be a good enough compromise---

I definitely plan more street than trail

Think I will be able to adjust the chain for the 56 to 36 drop in size?
