NEW MOD- AMMO CANS

so i decided i need more luggage since the newstar is my only way to get around. I decided to go cheap so i bought some army surplus ammo cans and made mounts myself. The mounts went on the stock rack with no drilling and i made the cans on sliders so they can be taken off in seconds, plus i want them to fly off if i crash. All in call cost about $25 with shipping of the cans. sorry about the bad pics

Hey, those look good! Do they rattle much? And yes, we are anxious to see photos of your mounts for them.

ill post pics of mounts as soon as my camera batteries charge. I made the mounts with aluminum bar stock and pieces of 80/20 aluminum, which is aluminum bars with slots cut in it so a slider will fit in. you drill a hole in the ammo can put a screw and a slider on it and they just slide in the slot, then you tighten it up. It did rattle at firts but i put a small crossbar that goes from one to the other under the license plate, this made it much better and it doesnt rattle at all. I also cut off the handles on the cans as they rattled alot. Also how do you post pics?

In the album or next to the picture in your photobucket account, copy the text labeled "IMG code" and past it into your message.

I have the same trunk as you and never have enough room. I have been contemplating the ammo can idea but wasn't sure how it would look. I think I'm going to pick up some ammo cans on my way home.

heres the pics of the mounts they just clamp on the rack and then the cans have the sliders and they slide in a groove on the metal. i got the cans for about $18 w/shipping from an army surplus website, the ones i have are the 7.62mm cans and they are abut 10x6.5x3.5

That's the smallest rear sprocket I've seen on one of these bikes!

Just don't spray paint 'em silver--you might be mistaken for a BMW.
