What insurance company did you use? (Hawk)
Basically, I'm ready to use my hawk on the roads legally, and would like to take it for a smaller trip towards a near by town. However, it seems like none of the insurance companies recognize my vin number or the model, in which i was hopping that one of you guys could mention on which insurance company is the best. I almost forgot to state that i live in the united states, as well as i am located in missouri.

I have USAA for my cars, but they don't insure motorcycles. They do have an affiliation with Progressive so I got directed there.
As far as the VIN goes, nobody will recognize the manufacturer. TXDMV didn't even know what it was, but if it passes a motorcycle inspection, it's a motorcycle and they'll title/plate it here in the Lone Star state. Progressive couldn't identify it either. Once they knew it was a CB - there's no comprehensive available. So it's just liability. |

So, how exactly would i register it with progressive? Should i just mention that its a different type of model and use the same vin number? |

Inform them that it's a Chinese bike and give them the VIN. Also, here's a direct link to the manufacturer/model if you need to provide any specifics:
http://www.haosenmotor.com/Products/.../HS250Y-A.aspx That was all I needed to do to get it started. The agent I spoke to had no idea what it was exactly, but clearly knew how to set it up. |

Geico insured my hawk for $99 for the year...that's just minimum required liability for Washington DC...I would think it would be less expensive elsewhere.

We insure all our bikes in a lump so 'd have to look....BUT, we switched all of our vehicles to Geico this last year....except the bikes. We stuck with our old insurer Nationwide. They beat Geico by a decent amount for all the bikes.

I insure my Zongshen ZS200GY-2 (Sierra) for liability only. The cost is about $36/year from State Farm Insurance.
