I read somewhere that a guy was running some sort of Lithium Ion battery in there bike. I personally will go with an Odyssey if i can find one that fits. LOVE them in my plow truck.....

I've had good luck with the (N)Everstart's from Wally World. You just have to really follow the directions regarding allowing the proper soak time after filling and don't use over a 1.5 amp trickler when doing the initial charge. I cheated that system once and it didn't last near as long. I think it's because they're filled with shock resistant foam or something.

Might I also suggest getting a multi-stage Battery Tender with a DeSulfate phase, almost every battery that I had that was "dead/dying/wont hold a charge" was due to Sulfate build up on the plates... leaving them charge in 'desulfate mode' overnight has brought back to life almost every battery I have attached it to so far.
3 motorcycle batteries (7ah and 14ah, one made in China, one Japan, one Mexico), 2 riding mower batteries, countless car/truck/automotive batteries, I also recently revived a 8 year old Optima Red Top battery. I would give 3 to 1 odds that a Battery Tender with a DeSulfate mode will get several more years out of your current batteries ![]()

Isn't it shocking how much less expensive a huge lawn tractor battery is than a tiny little motorcycle battery? I think the second they put the word "motorcycle" on anything, the price goes up....

Thanks everyone for your input, I ordered both a desulfator and the new battery. Ill report back on my findings. The battery is half an inch taller than the stocker, but it should JUST clear the airbox. Fingers crossed!

If you get one, do not use a Battery Tender with Desulfate phase on a Lithium Ion Battery, fastest way to kill those expensive Lithium batteries is to attach them to the wrong charger/battery tender (and most if not all of them with a Desulfate mode is the 'wrong kind of charger')

Just a quick update, the battery is toast, one dead cell. The desulfator didnt have a chance :(
The new battery works great on the other hand. It fits the stock battery box differently then the stock battery, but it does fit. ![]() Ill grab some pictures if anyone is really interested. |
