UPDATE -Daymak 260cc ATV - Made by Linhai

Linhai seems to be the maker of the 260 Sasquatch I asked about.

http://www.funwheels.biz/shop/custom...cat=248&page=1

http://www.mancopowersports.com/TALON.htm

This second one expresses things in pounds and inches, for us old farts.

The specs are here http://www.daymak.com/bikes-toronto/...tv/sas260.html

Briefly, it's a 260cc, auto with Hi/Lo range, 2WD. In the US, it's marketed at www.peacevehicle.com

Does anyone have any info or feedback on Linhai ATVs? The 260 specifically? I'd appreciate hearing from you! Thanks.

Steve

I think member New2riding bought his bike from Daymak. He is in the Toronto area too.

I haven't heard of that brand, but I like the styling of that ATV.

Thanks for the response. I think he bought a bike from there. I don't know if he got an ATV or not.

I'm not close to Toronto but was hoping to get some info about them before I made the drive down to see one. The body styling is vaguely reminiscent of Kawasakis and I think Yamaha used to make a 259cc engine.

Considering that some of the Chinese quads are copies of older designs, sometimes you can get lucky and find a clone where the parts swap out for existing brands.

I was thinking about the Baja 250 originally until I saw the Sasquatch. The Baja 250 is a copy of the Yamaha Beartracker.

All the best.

Steve

Linhai actually is partnered with Yamaha.. Not so much a clone as perhaps what actually goes into a Yamaha..

We sell and own the 260 except ours is not the Daymak unit.

So far there seems to be no outstanding issues with this machine. it comes standard with grease fittings in the suspension and wheel hubs/spindle for exteneded life. The engine is fairly peppy and has suffered no problems. The only thing I have done with these bikes is de-burr the shift linkage pieces for smoother shifting and lubricate all pivot points, also and tuck away some of the wiring and extend the rear diff vent hose up to the air box.
I used extended life coolant mixed 50/50 with distilled water, and synthetic engine and differential lubricants .

One customer compalined about deep water crossing but I explained it's not designed for water up to the racks, open CVT don't like to be submarined LOL. The current one I have now I plan on addapting longer intake and exhaust tubes on the CVT housing for deep water crossing. I'll keep everyone informed on the modifications and how they work.

This bike would be a great little weekend warrior work /play bike with a small winch.
This bike is comparable to the Yamaha Moto4 (except automatic) quick and light, easy to ride.

Savage, it looks to be the same one.

http://www.tractorsupply.com/webapp/...g=true&cFlag=1

I would have a hard time giving $4k for one.

I hopped on them and they are nice and big like all the other utility quads.
I don't think I'd give 4k for a 260 either. I think the 400 Lifan is around the same price and has IRS.

You can get some nice used Honda or Suzuki ATVs for $4k with alot more power and 4x4.

If it was $2500 I might consider one.

yah, I spend $800 on an older Yamaha Grizzly 600 then put just under another $1000 into it and it is the BEAST. I can go ANYWHERE the $10,000 Can-Am's go and parts are easy to find and will be for many years to come.

No way I would spend $4000 on an unknown brand even if linhai/ Yamaha. Maybe in 5 years we will know if they truly complete with the big boys plus most of their models are 300cc and less and that just does not cut it for a 4wd and the stuff I do with my quad.
