WA state rides?

Just curious if there are any other China bike riders in the state of Washington that visit this forum? I still have yet to see another china bike zipping around the streets.

I live in Bremerton. I just bought a 2006 GY200 and I like it so far. The only problem it has is a cracked side panel on the left side. This bike is in perfect order except for this. I am currently looking for the panel and have been thinking it was a GY200-5 but re-thinking it is a GY200-2 after looking at the parts lists for the GY200-5. It's an unusual color (Aqua/White) than all the other bikes I've seen. I have been reading some of the topics for oil types to use. Looks like a synthetic 5W-30 would be good for around here. What's your take? The bike has 2,000 miles on it now. Anyways, take care and enjoy your bike whenever the weather around here permits.

Where did you get your bike? (just curious)

I use the same oil for my China bike that I use in my Russian bike, Castrol 20w-50. With winter getting closer seems the trail riding will be very limited. I do ride my Russian bike in the snow whenever possible (it has 2wd and a sidecar).

Later,

Jack

I bought it from Brothers Honda here in Bremerton for $1,000. I have only put 25 miles on it so far. I was reading a topic on oil types to use and a poster named Red from I believe Vermont said he uses Synthetic 5W/10W-30 and he gets more power and it's better for the cold weather.

Yup, that was me. IMO a 15w40 or 20w50 oil is rediculously thick for these little 16hp engines. I have tried everything from 20w50 down to 5w30 and there is a HUGE difference in power and gas mileage running the lighter oil. My mileage jumped from 56mpg to 74mpg going from the 20w50 to the 10w30 I currently run. No bull. I have seen no measurable difference in engine heat or oil life. I know the research says motorcycles are hard on oil, blah, blah, blah. But, if a Yamaha R1 can run at 12500 rpm and 170 hp on a 40 weight oil, I think these little single cylinder 16 hp engines turning 8000 rpm will be just fine with a 30 weight. My Roketa is laid up for the Winter with just under 2000 miles and NO oil issues what so ever. Next Summer, I'm gonna drop down to a semi synthetic 5w20 oil and see what that brings!

I'd love to read your report red. I'm using full synth now but it's expensive up here. The semi synth is more available and it's about a third of the price. 8)

Brett, maybe we can do some rides on the logging roads of Snoqualmie Pass. Did it a couple times last year and was pretty fun.

URAL

Hey....just noticed you have a Ural too.

I've been wanting to get a gear-up for a while now. I'm getting my new XF200 because it's so inexpensive...I was expecting to get the Ural this year, but ill probably have to wait until next year. For a new one, it's like 13k out the door...too much for right now.

Rainier here

Rainier here in Washington .
I will be up for rides this year for sure, but will be on the Harley or Norton , as long as your not predjudice to ride with other than Chinese bikes that is. I don't ride with anyone that is Harley only or Norton only, or any only bike idiots. If it has two wheels and a Motor your my buddy no matter what brand it is .
Or you can come down to Rainier and ride our dirt track some weekend in Summer and to visit us . Its a small 2 acre track but its fun and I am a Chef and throw a mighty nice BBQ

Later, Cheers, and anyone is welcome here at our Ranch that is of this forum . As long as you don't ask me to ride my Norton we'll get along fine 8O

Kelly out

Breathing Summer into this thread!

Fireroads on Snoqualmie are my old 4X4 stomping grounds, I bet cycling up there would be a blast! We really like Middle Fork Rd. but I'd be game for putting the Diamo ls200 on any dirt out there. So far it's been 100 miles on nothing but concrete and that thing is still WAY too clean!

Unfortunately I only have Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays...anyone have those funky days off?

I grew up in Selah and currently live in Enumclaw, but have a cabin at Hyak (Snoqualmie Pass) where I do most of my riding.
