Halogen headlight anyone?

The bulb, a Ba20d shape, pops right in - honest, no fiddling! - and you will see dramatically improved lighting.

The only place I have seen them is at some of the online scooter shops for Vespas and Lambrettas.

It is 12volt/35watt and fits a Ba20d bulb socket. Any thoughts?
My highbeam bit the dust at under 100 mile (well it might be km, I haven't checked the odometer yet).

I didn't replace my bulb right away when the high beam went out because the next time I rode it the high beam was working again.
Yesterday one of the security guards in our neighborhood followed me and honked at me at a stop sign.
He just wanted me to know my headlight was off or out. Sure enough it was completely gone. Picked up a replacement at a local Suzuki dealer that sells scooters too. (They didn't have a halogen though :( ).
The old bulb had a hole blown through one side by the little metal plate inside.
I have never seen a bulb do that.

Have you tried one of those bulbs yet? From the same site there is a blue bulb, but no indication if it is the same socket:

I haven't tried one yet. I keep wanting to but just haven't got around to it.

8) Dennis Kirk sells a 35, 45, and 60 watt that will fit our bikes. They are $3.00. Rode 200 miles with mine and no melting problems or electrical.

I just installed one of these the other day. It's better than the stock lamp, but I've seen better halogens. It came packaged pretty well, but there were fingerprints all over it...Go figure...supplying doomed halogens out of the box.

Be sure to check the bulb, and make sure it's squeaky clean. oil is no friend to halogen lamps.

If you can get them locally for $4, you should get a few spares.

I replaced my BA20D stocker for a Halogen bulb as well on my Zongshen Sierra 200. It replaced the big round bulb BA20D socket with a nice mean halogen bulb that put out about roughly 2x more light, and was definitely a more whiter light, not the dim yellow that the stock bulb was.

Which model bulb did you order for your Zong? On the web site you posted I see prices ranging from $7.06 to $17.86. :?

I didn't see the base size on the specs. You might have to contact the seller and request a BA20d base, and get a quote.

Just get the Halogen BA20D replacement, he has various prices for whatever reason, I paid 4.99 for mine shipped to the USA. It worked a charm, I am sure that you would be pleased with the light output from the bulb.

As a caveat, I sold my Sierra and bought a 2008 KLR650, bike is sweet no doubt, but getting another Sierra in a few weeks to start a business with.

If you click on the link to the Ebay store in my previous post, just check the for sale items on the left hand side, you will see BA20D replacements as an option, ALL of those bulbs will fit our bikes.

I just bought an exact replacement bulb for my '01 lf200gy-5 from the local honda dealer for $5.50.

As I posted in the Parts sticky, google "Consumabulbs" and order one from them. They are a little pricy (they have to be shipped from the UK) but as far as I am concerned, it's worth $10 to be able to see farther at night. They sell a 45/40 high/low bulb, as opposed to the 35/35 bulb. It's ALMOST a decent bulb - probably as much light as these machines will put out, anyway.

After riding almost 5,000 miles on my Zongshen Sierra 200, the low beam on my headlamp finally burned out. I am now faced with 5 choices for a replacement bulb. I can get a ten-pack of 35/35 watt, 45/45 watt or 60/60 watt incandescent bulbs from Light Bulb Emporium for a delivered price of $20.09, $20.99 or $21.99, respectively (search ba20d at http://www.lightbulbemporium.com/search.asp ). I can also get two 35/35 watt halogen bulbs that Bex discovered on ebay for $22.00, delivered. Finally, I can buy two 45/40 watt halogen bulbs that Kawazacky found at Consumabulbs for $26.85, delivered.

I am leaning toward the the ten-pack of 45/45 watt incandescent bulbs. These bulbs are rated for a 100-hour lifetime. Based upon the longevity of my last bulb, a ten-pack will probably serve me for another 50,000 miles. Also, they should give me more light than the standard 35/35 watt bulbs, and probably not overtax my electrical system ( http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=535466 ). I am also considering switching over to an LED tail light assembly, which would reduce the drain on my electrical system. What do you gentlemen think?
