Another new bike, but i need engine parts..

Well I purchased another bike. My wife has now outgrown her Zongshen powered 1970 Honda CT-70, and decided she too wants a Dual Sport. I picked this one up from Ebay for 69.99, with no idea what was wrong with the motor. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=290198205239 . When i got it home, with some quick diagnostic work I discovered the rockers no go up and down.. Make a long story short, the camshaft circlip came loose, and destroyed the cam and gear. Soooo, i need a cam assembly. I found a dealer over seas, will not say a name, as he is a member here. Well, i paid him via Paypal for a stock cam and gasket set, and 20 days later, no parts.. Communication has been on the thought of "oh, it ships this week", well guess where that has got me..

Anyone have any thoughts to where i might beable to find a Zongshen pushrod motor camshaft? I have been looking for a dealer that sells TMX155 parts, but have had no luck. Dont need a racing cam, just a stocker..

Thanks in advance..

Don't know about the parts, but a heck of a deal for $70.

But it is only a good deal if i can find the parts.. I hate to buy a new motor because of the lack of ability to find a common part. The plastic is actually broken in a repairable manner. My Viva was a different story.

The motor has been pulled all the way down. I have inspected the gear box, and found the missing dowel pin. Thank God it did no damge to any gears. The cam gear could easily be fixed, and reinstalled, but the cam took damage on the lobe face when the pin was loose.

No damge to the head, and the valves have been lapped, and reinstalled. Passed a leakdown test, somehow it got away with out damaging the valves. But seeing how the valves are set in a Polysphere combustion chamber with a dished piston, i doubt it was anywhere near a zero clearence motor.

Thanks for the bad Juju, now i will never find a camshaft. Thats how my wifes CT-70 started out as, a 50.00 parts bike to part on Ebay.

This one i would like to get running as cheap as possible for her to crack her teeth on. She has had a such a fun time riding around the Mtns with me since Christmas. Its funny as hel* watching me chase a CT-70 down. Snow season starts next week, so i will have 9 weeks with no riding, and i will have time to get it done.

I know you want to save a few dollars, but you may be better off just getting a whole new engine and saving this one for parts. I think most of these 200cc engines can be purchased on ebay for around $400. Just a thought.

Kazuma parts

I saw that bike on Ebay and I wished I could get it. I have the same bike, a Kazuma Cheetah 200. Mine is an 2004. I had a hard time finding the headlight bulb. I finally ordered it from http://www.kazuma.com/parts/index.asp
Use the word "test" for the login and password and you can look at the parts they have. They don't show the cam, but thay say they get get all parts. Anyway, the bulbs were a little pricey bur shipping was fast and reasonable. As far as I can tell this bike is the same as the Jetmoto and of course, very similer to the Lifan.
Good luck,
Paul

I don't know for sure but it looks like a honda/Lifan/Shineray 200/250, might slide right in there. Atleast it would be a fun experiement

if you really need the parts and can't find them, I might be able to help. I can get parts pretty cheap but shipping is of course from the big red China.

Mike

You're welcome to my engine..still was running,but tranny was out...just a few hour drive to Yuma--good price--$25

Heck, I have a relatively new battery to throw in--you might find some parts you can vulture off, too.

Parts

That sure looks like the new Lifan motor???? It's just like the one on my 07 GY-5. Even has the cooling fins on the ballance shaft up front. Bolt for bolt it looks identical to mine only it's black.

Yeap, dead sure, the Engine number is a ZS163FM. Also every part is stamped with their emblem and ZS. Wouldnt make much of a difference, the cams are the same between the motors, as long as it is a pushrod motor.

Culcune: i sent you an email concerning that motor. I am going to give this seller an extra few days. Still have no idea why he has yet to ship, or respond to emails. His history of slow shipping is one thing, but this is another problem.

Fatboy: i am trying to keep this as low in cost as possible. The CT-70 was another story. I new it would be worth 750-1000 when i was done, so spending 150 for a motor was fine with me. This bike would never be worth more than 500-600 even with a new motor.

Liverschip: i hope i to can ruin your chinese Karma one day.. I beat my head on a LARGE pine tree this afternoon as i felt the rapping with my knuckles may not be enough.. Alot of parts for Pit bikes, but not much on the vertical. As many of these engines they have made, you would sware that the cams would be easy to find.

Might want to call these guys:
atvpartsusa.com

They have several camshafts which aren't crossreferenced to any bikes. Call them and see.....can't hurt to ask. That's where I got a cheap rear axle replacement.

According to the picture you have a push-rod engine. If you have a push-rod engine then it shouldn't have an over-head cam-shaft. Either way, if someone has a second hand engine you can scavenge for cheap it might be faster, cheaper and a chance to meet a fellow member of the community.

I know it seems silly to not be able to fnid a part that has probably been produced my the trillions but in China you could live right next door to the factory and still never be able to find or buy one.
