GY2 and GY5
Does anyone know the difference between a GY2, GY3 and GY5? Is there a difference? Just curious?

They're different models... Lots of little things, mostly cosmetic I think. Fuel tank sizes are different...

I think the seat height is different between the 2 and the 5. The stock sprockets for the 5 are 46 rear/17 front, and the 2 had the more common 56 rear/17 front (someone will probably correct me, plus on Hooper's site, the red GY-2 he shows looks like it has the 46 rear, while the blue one, which has been on his site for a while, looks like it has a 56 rear.

My Shineray is a like the GY2s. It has conventional front forks and does not have linkage in the rear suspension. The shock bolts directly to the swing arm. It's got the larger rear sprocket as well. The entire tank is covered by a plastic cover, not just 'radiator' shrouds on the side like the GY5s.

I don't think the GY-2 has the silly 5 on the front.

The silly 5, and the inverted forks aren't necessarily on all the gy'5s either, they come in to the specs of who ever orders them... Stickers can be different on all the models, forks can be either inverted or not, brakes can be disc or drum, lots of things really depend on how the importer wants them.

Our bikes didnt come with the 5's and were noticeably slower than the bikes that have the 5's but once the 5's were taken off, the bikes were equal.

I am still looking for a huge "steal your face" sticker to cover my 5.

So, from what I can tell the major difference between a GY2 and GY5 is;
1. Seat Height (5 taller then 2) 2. Ground Clearance (2 more then 5) 3. Gas Tank (5 larger then 2) Everything else on the bike seems to be at the importers descrection. Did I miss something?

"5" sticker, LOL
I think the 2, in the red color, looks sharper than the 5. I also think the stock gearing on the 5 was always 46 rear/17 front, while the 2 was 56 rear/17 front; but this would depend on importer. Hooper's "stock" blue GY2 photo seems to look like a 56 t rear, while the newer red GY2 photo seems to look like it has the 46 t rear. Oh, and the plastics are different, with the GY5 having a more exposed engine, while the GY2 has more plastics covering up the engine.

FWIW, my bike says it is a GY4A and had no number on the front (thank gawd or I'd have to peel it off).
