Hawk stock inner tube instant failure.

I still have stock innertube and tires on my 2017 Hawk. Well on the 1st tide of the year I did a once over and checked pressure. 8 miles into the ride I'm about to cross a bridge, rear end loses control like I hit ice. Ride out the scary part almost wiping out, come to a close and stop. Rear tire is totally deflated and lost the bead. Just got home from retrieval so I'll take tire off and do the proper diagnose......but I suspect inner tube ruptured due to the sudden nature. A british dude came behind me in a LandRover told me he saw a puff of dust or smoke of the rear tire it happened.

That's scary, glad you were able to ride it out. Hopefully the tire and wheel are unharmed. Same thing happened to my buddy who has my hawk now.

The stock tubes are thin garbage to begin with and dont tend to last long. Replace both with a good heavy duty tube and make sure the rim strips are in good shape and not loose. They arent the greatest either, and if they shift the spoke nipples can cause a puncture. Also a good idea to check the inside of the rim for sharp edges and sand them down of you find any.

My stock tubes about got me as well. Definitely can’t skip replacing them. I lost the front tube within the first 60 miles, found out in a turn, when the tire suddenly got really grippy! Thankfully it was a slow turn and there was a gas station with air close by.

What are a good brand of tube? I just bought two IRC brand tubes, but not sure if that's a trusted brand.

J0hny 216, I'm in the Northwestern part in Kalispell area.....it was 45F today, I rode it down my snowy driveway since I was in need of a ride. Roads were dry.......anyway....I've got new innertube and rim liners ordered off Amazon......wonder if I should get some Shinko 700 as well?

That’s what I bought, IRC. What part of Tennessee are you from? I’m in Portland outside of Nashville.

1,400 miles on mine. Might have to start planning for a failure.

I had to replace the rear tube after about 1000 miles. I still have the original stock front tube with just over 5300 miles.

Can you use a 100/90/19 tube to replace a 90/90/19 tube? I have a Pirelli HD 100/90/19 and Pirelli 19 strip I'm going to use on a new rim when it arrives if it won't pinch. I've read it's good to use baby powder on the tube too..

The tire size is 100/80/19
