Perhaps arthritis has impaired the use of the middle finger.

Arrrg.. I'm glad I didn't grow up in the 80's or 90's

Thumbs Up... Means: Cool, Neet, Good Job, I l Like It! What Your Doing is Cool, etc. etc.

No Pun Intended, but the kick was!

I had some people wave and point at me on one of my early rides and was wondering why these people noticed my bike?? Found out I forgot to turn my lights on......doh!

I have it narrowed down to two possibilities.

1) I have a pair of Pittsburgh Steelers gloves on when I ride. they approve.

2) there is some sort of significance to the #5, ie player number, car number, etc.

I think lots of older guys like the DS's because it reminds them of themselves when they were young riding their dirt bikes.

Can't say I've had any chicks check me out on my little bike.

I do feel the weird looks when I show up to the trails though. Guys checking out my bike as I ride by, trying to figure out what the hell it is.

I can get waved at on any bike by riders of the same style of bike (cruiser to cruiser for example), but cruiser riders won't wave if I'm on a sport bike or dual sport, of course I am just generalizing... Sport bikes and others seem to wave no matter what your riding.

I've noticed that too.
Last season I quit waving because I was usually the only one. The few nice days we've had so far, everyone is eager to wave. lol

That has been my experience as well. I'm still not sure if it is ignorance of 'the wave' or just bad manners.

It could be either I suppose, but they'll usually wave if I'm on a cruiser, which leads me to believe it's the second :P
