TBR7 new air filter style but...

Ok guys, so I just bought a 42mm air filter to hook up to my stock carb on my TBR7, it fits great but since it fits is there any real need to keep the old airbox/ air neck and filter under the seat? might be a rookie question but if the new filter fits I don't see the need to keep the old airbox on... knowledgable guidance for this guy plz

Shave a few pounds of weight fairly high up on the bike when you ditch the air box, might need a "splash guard" for what the rear tire likes to sling up in that area though...

Or if its big enough, use the old air box as your new storage box for any tools/tire repair parts
