Battery Quick Disconnect and Power Distribution

Just wanted to share an easy project that may help make life a little easier for our ATV community.

So, I am going to be adding a winch and possibly a cooling fan in the near future and I am concerned with the stators ability to keep up with the volt and amp draw. I decided to add a 10AWG SAE quick connect cable to allow me to pull the battery out with our having to unscrew the terminals. This set up provides the ability to quickly pull out the battery and hook it up to a charger, quickly swap out with a fresh spare battery, and connect a winch directly to the main battery or a spare. The quick connect plugs into a fused power distribution block that runs all accessories. The starter is connected directly to the block and is not fused.

That's pretty slick. I need to do something like that on my daughter UTV. Everything runs through the one fuse so this would be a good upgrade. I have a HF solar charger on our ATV with the same plug. I have no power in the storage shed so that will work perfect.

Jerry, Keep in mind when you purchase the 10GA Extension cable you cut it in half, so you actually wind up with two connectors. I purchased two extension cables for 4 terminations.

That is sweet. Super clean. Something I may try in the future. Thanks for sharing.

I have my battery in a plastic ammo box with the maintainer charger stuffed in with it. I keep the ammo box in the trunk when riding.. when I get home I just unplug and bring it in the house. I went with this style connector.... https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NW_7...nput=nw+740234

I was able to mount one side of the connector to the ammo box. Taking the battery in out of the weather has worked out well .. battery has lasted 2+ years... vs the old way of a new battery every season.
