Death by Glue Residue

I finally decided that I am done with being Optimus Prime from the Transformers and I wanted to remove my decals from my TBR7

Decals pulled off easy enough, but the damn glue residue is vicious.

I have tried EVERYTHING, Goof Off, Rubs Alcohol, WD-40, Vegetable Oil, scrub with a toothbrush and clothes and it eventually starts to come off but at the rate I am going and the effort needed, I will be here until next year.

Any life hacks ?

Heard something about insecticide but I'm really not trying to go that route.

Thanks in advance

I know you said you tried goof off....BUT when I tried to take decals off of my old bike there was some tough glue residue..I got a small bottle of goo Be Gone and it worked very well, took it off completely within a few minutes. Not sure what the ingredients in goof off is but the goo be gone works very well, especially on those plastics.

A lot of the goof off style cleaners are pretty much lacquer thinner .

Bro I swear god peanut butter or just plain vegetable oil works great. Use a rag and rub the sticky crap with ether.

I use alcohol, but it takes time and patience. You'll need a bit of elbow grease, too.

Great feedback.

Gasoline may be a really good idea...I've used it to remove deep deep stains

Heck I'll try peanut butter also

Goo Be Gone I have not used either.

Back to the workbench!!!

I know it's not much help now, but... lol

When I removed the decals from my Orion RXB-250L, I started with one panel first and had the same issue. It left all the glue and took me half a day to get it all off using Goo Gone. For the rest of the panels I heated them with a heat gun and everything peeled off nice and clean leaving no glue behind. I did the rest of the bike in less time than just the first piece!

3M Adhesive Remover (or Goof Off, or Krud Kutter) combined with an Eraser Wheel. As Keith said, heat when removing a decal really helps with not leaving a lot of adhesive behind, but for what is left, the above does a good job of softening it and stripping it. Just be careful with the eraser wheel as you can create too much heat from friction and damage the part you are working on much like a buffing wheel.

Thanks to everyone!!!

The hands down winner was gasoline on a soft scrub sponge and credit card.

Then I hosed the plastics down in WD-40

While I make it sound oh so simple.... I now know what task I will be performing when I make it to HELL
