Rhino 250 chain rubbing swing arm

So I’m a complete noob to ATVs and I just got a new rhino 250. We put maybe 5 hours on it and I noticed the chain tensioner is pushing the chain into the swing arm. I’m assuming this isn’t normal. What is the normal amount of play in the chain? I understand how to adjust it (the mechanical process) but I don’t want to make it too tight and ruin anything

I have been running mine pretty tight, about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch of slack with out issues. I typically need to tighten it up after every 5 runs or so.

10mm to 20 mm movement at midpoint is the general rule, with tensioner loose.
