Decision Between 3 Bikes !

Hello,

I have been reading about all the bikes on this site for the past month and have read through most of the threads and have a good understanding of the pros and cons of most of the bikes.

Its my first bike and it will be used to commute about 17 miles and takes about 30 minutes.

My three choices and not in this order are

1. TaoTao Tbr7
2. Hawk DLX EFI
3. CSC TT250

I know of course everyone knows about these bikes as they are talked about daily but I keep going back and forth. I promise i searched the threads too as well , but i didn't find exactly a straight opinion on these three head to head at this point.

The TBR was my first choice because of the styling over the original hawk and the price of course.

The Hawk DLX then peaked my interest because of the EFI mostly. I still like the looks better of the TBR and the CSC. I am somewhat mechanical but not great enough to fix everthing sometimes i can and then other times I am just annoyed i didn't have someone else do it kinda guy. So i don't know how much i should be concerned about the EFI over a CARB setup.

Last of course is the CSC , I wont lie the support side of it even though its more expensive and is a CARB does peak my interest. I know I could prob figure out most stuff from everyone on here and youtube but It would be nice to be able to have it ready to go and one number to call for support. Im not sure how much nicer if at the the counterbalanced is in these bikes but I have never had one to compare it to anyway so it might not matter much to me. Only someone who owned both could tell me i guess.

So do you think the EFI of the hawk is enough to warranty the other two CARB bikes ? I heard the DLX is kinda loud and i prefer quiet myself.

The TBR price is nice but I don't have a problem paying more either for a TT250 if there support is worth it.

Thanks hope I was clear for the most part. Thanks in advance!

TT250 without question. Not only is the overall quality better, but it has many upgrades over the other two under the surface. I don't trust the EFI on the DLX myself.

My main question is, is it going to strictly be for on road commuting? If so, I would consider a bike like the Venom X22R over any of the dual sports.

If you are dead set on a dual sport, or maybe have a dirt road to travel down, then I would recommend a bike with the 17 and 19 inch wheels, but with a counter balanced motor. That would peraonally pjt my butt on a Brozz Recon or Blue Eagle from Peace Sports in atlanta

All I can tell you is I just took delivery of a TT250 on Monday. All I had to do was put the mirrors on when I got it off the skid and it fired right up.

Megadan ,

Thanks for your reply ! It will be mostly road riding but I do live in the country so Im sure ill take it down some light trails etc.. do you know what the Brozz Recon or Blue Eagle would offer over the TT250 ? What do 17 and 19 inch tires bring to the game ? thanks !

Thanks again.

The Brozz will have slightly better quality over the Hawk.and TBR7 out of the crate as well as the counter balanced engine, making it more akin to.the TT250. USD forks like the DLX, and decent support from Peace Sports as well.

As far as wheel size. The 17/19 wheels just make for a better road bike. The 18 and 21 wheels are generally better for off road, but they have a much stronger gyroscopic effect which tends to make for a little slower steering, but better stability as a trade.off. The larger diameter wheels also have a higher moment of inertia, which will actually cause them to have a slightly lower top speed (only a couple mph) on the extreme end of the scale.

The one big advantage of the 18/21 setups is tire choice though. The sizes the tbr7 and Brozz use have very little in the way of options

As a newbie to M riding and Chinabikes, I went with a TBR7 quickly realizing I will ride 99% of the time on the street.

If I had to do it over again, I would get the Venom X22R

Once I saw Jerrys videos of his and realized it had a carb I was kind of kicking myself.

Ultimately, I've put some work and formed a bond with my TBR7, but truth is I'm a street rider

Oh i agree. For strictly street driving the Venom X22R 250 is the way to go. I handles highway speed very well unlike my Hawk. But you can't beat the Hawk, TBR7, Brozz, Motomax for off road trail riding. I wouldn't even think of getting off the pave with the X22R. That's a disaster waiting to happen.

I've been noticing the ADV styles lately like this one.
https://www.motobuys.com/yamasakix70...SABEgKXXfD_BwE

but liking the motomax too.

having said that, you can't beat the quality of the TT250 if you are going to pay a bit more.

I looked at all of them for the last 3 months, watched the videos ( Thanks Motocheez! ), and the Tbr7 just kept calling my name. Then when I found them on sale @ $1289, I hit the add to cart. I've been riding for 50 years and this is the most fun I've had on a little bike.

You can really make an enduro-style bike with a 21/18 setup handle very well on the street just by tire choice. Q is basically a street and lousy road bike in it's use.

Member pete recommended the Shinko 700's and once they were scuffed up after install, I now can toss Q like a crotch rocket into paved twisties with complete confidence. They are also very good for the gravel roads and driveways I ride.

It's the only tire Q will ever see from here on out. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks pete!

I second this. I love the 700's as a good road/dirt road tire. They are aggressive enough that you get decent grip to maintain some confidence, but just enough of a street tire that they grip well on pavement and don't add too much vibration.

That said, the 705 is an even better road tire, and can still do your standard dirt road without issue. Either tire is a good choice for a road oriented dual sport.

I also agree that the 21/18's can be good as a road going bike. I use my Hawk to commute to work all the time. Sure, it doesn't fall into corners like a sport bike, but it can still be fun to ride.
