Raptor 200 excessive vibration
Hi, I'm new here and just purchased a used but effectively new Tao Raptor 200. The Raptor had 5.8 hours on it when I bought it and the guy said most of that was idling but the odometer said it had 11 miles on it.
It seems like a pretty nice machine but it vibrates so badly no one wants to ride it, a family member had a Bull 150 and it drove a smooth as our old Kawasaki Bayou, but this raptor when idling or under acceleration severely vibrates. Is this vibration normal? If so I have a Raptor 200 for sale. |

Check for broken or loose engine mount bolts.

Yep. Tighten the engine mount bolt up front.

I changed the oil, checked clutches ( I even tried running engine with variator removed), I couldn't find any loose bolts. Still has vibration.

My Bull 200 has an irritating vibration that appears to be somewhere in the front plastic. I think the light assembly may bouncing around in the frame. I haven't dug in yet. One of the items I had to tighten on the Bull was the exhaust pipe flange where it mounts to the manifold.

If the vibration is up front, there are rubber grommets that go between the plastic in the holes where the racks attach to the front frame. One of mine was torn and then half gone. It was noisy. Also I booted the plastic cover for the front rack--it was noisy. In addition, I added a piece of 3mm craft foam between the plastic and the top of the metal gas tank. It was noisy there too.
My exhaust manifold gasket was also in bad shape. Replaced it with a aftermarket thicker one. |

Have you adjusted the idle screw? At what rpm is it idling? Two screws. One on the left side of the carb-- crank it down while it's running until it dies then back it out a half or full turn. Do the fine adjustment with the screw on the right side top that has a spring underneath it. Shoot for sub 1500 idle.

My Rhino vibrates too. Certain R's are really buzzy. Just part of the experience, I guess.

I think the Rhino would vibrate less if it had a top engine mount.

My Bull has a lot of vibration, thought it would tame down some once it got broken in but it hasn't.Like 2LZ said, part of the experience of owning a Chinese quad I reckon.I just putter around so it doesn't bother me physically just in mind though. You can put your hand on the motor while running and you feel no vibration but you can see and feel it on the atv's body and footwells. That's why I don't understand it either, for the price I paid,I can live with it.
