Softer seat modification?
Ok I read some where on the web a while back (I can't find the siite now) but a guy drilled holes in the Seat Foam of his seat in order to make it softer. I am guessing the holes release some of the pressure in the foam....
I was thinking about just drilling a bunch of small 3/16-1/4 holes all in the foam on the sides and on the top... Has anyone ever heard of this? I am thinking about giving it a shot, since I am planning on changing out the Seat Cover sometime in this week/weekend. When I do it I will post plenty of info with pics....

I just want to modify my seat to make it wider. Then recover it with vinyl.

Good idea. Makes sense to me. More holes = more air space = less dense foam. Go for it, and let us know what you find out.

I did this with the seat that is currently on my GY. While it helped a little I'm
not sure it was worth the time and effort doing it. I made a cutting tool out of 1/2" copper pipe and twisted it by hand to cut out the foam. I do have pics, but can't seem to locate them at the moment. The crummy foam is really the problem. I would like to find a decent used seat that I could transfer the foam to this seat and reshape to fit the cover. Maybe one day. Here is the link you were referring to... http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=489610

Well I called around and it is $25-30 to rent the tool...I found an upholstery shop that will put the cover back on for $35...so I will just drop it off with them and let them re cover it...

The seat definitely looks better in black. I am lucky when it comes to
recovering things as my dad is an upholsterer and has all the proper tools to due this stuff. We have redone both of the seats I have multiple times and pretty much done with them as the plastic seat pans have so many staple holes that doing them again will probably kill them. Have you noticed a difference with the holes in the foam? As stated before I don't think it made much difference in mine.
