17/43 sprocket mod

Hi All. How will the 17/43 sprocket mod affect the hole shot? 1st gear seems pretty tall already in the Raven 250. Does this mod change it much? Thanks.

Ahemm... I've got a little humble pie that I'd like to share on this topic. I ASSUMED that this mod was needed and had bought the sprockets ahead of time. I took the covers off last night and found that this bike came with 17/46. I guess that might explain the taller 1st gear. Could someone share what lowering the rear sprocket to 43 would do for me as opposed to having a 46? Thanks.

A 3 tooth rear gear change from a 46 to 43 will see a 2.75 to 2.53 gear reduction with a 17t front. If your after better top speed open road less RPM a 42-40 might give a more noticeable change.

I run those gears and those wheels. I like it on highway. Plenty of pep off the line, but hard core off roaders might want a lower 1st.
