New member + pics + questions
Well ive been working on fixing up one of our Lifan gy200's for street riding after i complete my BRT in early may. It had been laid down off-road a few times which left the plastic in pooooor shape and just over all beat up. I decided to take it and make it into my "poor mans streetfighter". So far i have swaped out the tires, ordered a new headlight unit, and worked on repairing and painting what plastic is left. The Front fender is currently being sanded and painted silver.. and the rest is whats on the bike in the pics.
One problem i have run into is that with the new tires i need to have the rear axle back as far as it will go in the swingarm, only the chain isnt long enough to do so. So where should i look to find a replacement chain? Also, im sure this thing is gear wayyy to low for street use (pulling 5.5k doing 20mph in 3rd). Id love to see some more top end (will be used 100% street) but am confused as heck about what sprockets to get, from what bike, and what chain they will work with. So any advice i can get is very welcom. Enough chatting, heres some pics... BEFORE ---> NOW All pretty after assembly How it sits now and the headlight on order. [/b] |

I have this exact same rear tire. If you change out the sprocket to a 46,47,48,49....You won't need to "lengthen" the chain or get a new one. The change will probably be correct for the length you have now, you will have to cut a link or two. This gearing will be more desireable anyway for street use.

That should look awesome when you're done... What brand / size of tires, and where did you order them?

rear
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/I...D:100000209244 front http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/I...D:100000209244 so far its a great combo, once i get a new sprocket and chain ill be able to give a real road test for them. But just for slow cornering there is a huge difference over the stock dualsport tires. |

I must say that new headlight is very odd looking. Is it a direct bolt on? Do you think it will look in place on the bike?

I like the looks of that headlight/fairing.
It's odd enough to be just my style!

Funny everyone here wants better road performance, changing knobbys to street tires, I have a bike thats KILLER on the road, and I just bought KNOBBYS, I think everyone here deserves to have 2 bikes, one for road and one for DIRT, o wait isnt that what Enduro or Dual Purpose is

The duro median tires are cheaper than the barracudas and work very well on the street too.
Also alot of street tires available at www.americanmototire.com They have great service. Allen

You can expect more than 11k miles out of the rear Barracuda tread tire. The front even more.
