engine not charging

for some reason my engine is not charging the battery, where should I start on trouble shooting? I had a voltmeter hooked to the battery and see no increase in voltage when I start and rev the engine

Check your regulator/rectifier and connections going to it. Also there is a yellow and white wire coming out of your stator...these are ac and they are going to your regulator...mine reads 20 volts ac when it is running. Coming out of the regulator, it reads 13.2 volts dc at idle and ~14 at higher RPM's.
