Chirpping Sound

I now have about 1000 miles on my GY-5. I've noticed that I have a chirpping sound everytime I let off the throttle. When I pull in the clutch and let off the throttle it doesn't make the noise. I'm thinking it's somehow tied to the tranny. Any thoughts?

OK, have you given the bike a good looking over for anything loose? (engine, chain)

How about the brakes they tend to chirp as they wear and you'll have to modify the pads a little.

Does it seem hard to find neutral, like it won't stay in neutral or anything like that? Any shifting problems? I have a tranny problem and am preparing to open it up this afternoon, if I find anything I'll post in my thread "My tranny is locked up, help"

Could it be a dry chain rubbing on the rubber block on the top of the swing arm? The top of the chain gets the slack while slowing down in gear.

This happened to me and it was the swingarm/pivot interface. Try greasing the swingarm zerk and it should stop.

Not it. The chain is greased up like Wheezer! I will look at the swingarm today.

Just took a look at the swing arm. And of course I don't see any grease nipples. I guess the next step is to jack it up and remove the bolt. While I'm in there I plan on putting in a grease nipple. Should have done this when I assembled the bike but I was in too much of a hurry to ride!

I just wanted to thank everyone here on the board for their inputs. On Mother's Day I realized I needed a motorcycle lift to grease the swing arm. Man was my wife loving that. :wink: The swing arm was completely dry. Lubed it up and also notice that the chain was very loose. Probably a combination of both. The Bird Flu is now gone. She's feeling a lot better. This board is worth it's weight in gold.
