Tires on 2016 Hawk stored inside???

I plan on looking at an extremely low miles 2016 Hawk tomorrow afternoon, with the MCO, which has never been titled, so I probably can't actually get a DMV title made now, but can probably get it registered under WV's off-road vehicle program. It's $600, and hasn't been started in a few years, so I know it will need a battery, and hopefully the gas tank will still be good. If the tires are going to still be safe, then I don't think I could go wrong, but if they would need replaced, along with a battery, and probably a carb (I have a good carb on hand though), then the bike may not be worth the hassle, considering it is about 60 miles away. What are your opinions , especially on the tires, and how bad do you think a gas tank would have rusted after sitting for a few years. I get the impression from messaging the guy, that he may be either disabled, or have a personality disorder. I honestly don't know why the bike has such low miles 163 showing, if I remember right. I have heard some on this board having issues of new bikes, especially Hawks ,have transmission trouble, and the shifter won't change gears. I am a little suspicious, but the pictures look good. I just don't know why a 2016 would have not been ridden any more than it had been.

More than likely the bike ran like crap and the owner had no clue on how to tune. Chinariders could of helped him out. I have a 2016 and it has been a solid bike. We had several other members on here that bough our bikes at he same time. None of us had any issues with the 2016 models. Grab it quick.

Gas tank -- could be pristine, or a total disaster. No way to tell without looking. Tires -- 6-year-old tires are not new, but not necessarily completely done for if they have been out of the sun and not in contact with the bare ground. Look at them -- any cracking? Out of round? Are they holding air? I'd be cautious and be alert to any problems with them, but they may well be good for some miles yet.

Well, I bought it. The battery is long dead ,but the tires seem good, and the inside of the tank looks good from what I can see. It has some old gas in it. The bike does have only 160 some on it. The guy I was dealing with was odd, and probably never had any interest in anything, but magic tricks, and video games. His Dad bought it to use on their property, and never really used it any, and now has M.S.. He still has a good mind. It's not been started for a few years, but it does turn over. I don't think I went wrong in it.

They're simple machines. Get rid of the old gas, clean the carb a bit, you'll likely get 'er fired up. Have fun!

I drained what little gas was in it, and drained the carb, and it had a sediment bowl , and the gas that came from the tank was a little yellow, the sediment bowl was perfectly clean, and the gas that cam from the carb was nasty looking. I added some fresh gas, and thought I would try kick-starting it. I like never got the kicker to swing out up in Ohio were I bought it, but I did. It is still stiff now. I choked it ,and went to kicking on it. It hit once after many kicks, and that's when I noticed the neutral light on, and believe it or not the electric starter worked. I had already made up my mind that the battery was shot before, and during looking at it. It would hit, and die, several times, but after a few times it started right up. I decided to go down the road just a piece, and turn around, and went to put it on gear, and the clutch would not release. I let it run a while, and pulled the lever back and forth many times, and it still wouldn't release. I tried putting it in first, and pushing it with the clutch in, and it just scooted in the gravel. I went up to the higher gears and did the same, and the motor was turning at first, but after pulling the clutch in a few times it released. I took it down the road just 100 yards, but it seems to run very well. The son who was probably in his mid 30s or later had issues, but the Dad still had his mind, and was possibly mechanically inclined. The carb has Japan stamped on it, and it has a spring loaded folding shifter. I tried the lights, and signals, and everything works except for one rear signal. It has a signal beeper, which surprised me. I thought that was just the TBR7. It's close to the same color as my TBR7, but a little different shade of blue , almost purple looking from some angles. The brakes are working, and the bike is probably worth trying to get registered. The Dad bought it news, and and I got the MCO from a place called " My Scooters and ATVs". The back is not signed were it has the space for the buyer, so I may be able to actually get it licensed. .I will try to send some pics, but I will try to link the Facebook ad for now.

Bike looks good. A heat gun or propane torch will bring the color back like new. just take your time so not to burn the plastic.

Up to 2016 the Hawks had the signal beeper. It was done away with in 2017.

I had a feeling that clutch would be stuck together. Hopefully it doesn't shred itself apart, which sometimes happens when they sit dry for a long time and get stuck.

How long , or how much use do yo think it would take to know if the clutch is going to fail ? How long before one would expect to see clutch material in the oil? I would probably rather replace the clutches than thinking that they could just fall apart at anytime in the future .

The guy (owners son) juhttp://st had it advertised as motorcycle with keys, and title $600. I knew from the pictures that it was a Hawk. I messaged him and asked the year, and milage, and he messaged me back saying that it was a 2016, and he said he thought it had 36 miles. He sent this picture. He was confusing the odometer and trip odometer, but still a 6 year old bike with 161 "miles"(probably kilometers) is mind blowing. I hope the clutch doesn't shred , but knowing it's genuinely such a low miles bike , and having another Road legal bike that's similar enough to share most parts made it a no brainer to buy it. I didn't have the heart to try too hard to talk him down to $500. I just asked if $600 was a firm price, and when he said he would like to get $600, I said yeah, it's worth it. Here is the picture of the odometer that he sent.

It usually happens pretty quickly if it is going to happen. Usually you will get some signs such as juddery take offs or odd noises.
