Bait and switch

I bought an LF200GY, and what I got was a Skygo SG200GY .... I'm guessing this is the exact same bike other than the sticker, right?

Me Too!

I can't answer you question but I'm in the same boat. I bought what I thought was a Roketa rkm-200E5 from OMD Motors on ebay and was shipped and Shineray ALLROAD DB-200C.

The allroad is a pushrod engine with drum rear brakes....not quite what I expected!

At first he said it was the same bike, but later said they were out of the Roketa bikes. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to file a fraud claim or not.

JJONES...my apologies for hijacking your thread.

Tim

hey Jones,

is American lifan what you intended to buy? LF200GY is an American lifan. if you intended to buy an american lifan you need to start reporting this to American Lifan Ebay and whoever else that will listen.

wow I said American Lifan four times in one post and I did even slander them

so get a dealer that is a real dealer in my area you.... you.... dirty corperation!

I believe that the SKYGO brand is one that Lifan uses. I bought mine SG200GY-2 from Hooper Imports, and their website gives the branding explanation that I just did.

Okay so get in contact with motoxtream ejcycles or another Lifan dealer and check the vin to make sure you have a lifan. If not, then start complaining.

Skygo is a name that hooper used for their version of lifan. It's a lifan but not an American Lifan.Depending on where you live you may have trouble registuring it.

Seems like the net wholesalers are so shady in this biz.

I wish we could get all there potential victims to visit this site before they buy from them. Not to stop them from buying from them, but to let them know what to watch out for if they wish to still deal with them.

Larry Hooper's Lifan bikes come from the exact same place that American Lifan gets their bikes. Lifan slaps the SKYGO sticker on the bikes so you can tell one from the other. Hooper Imports has been selling Lifan bikes in the USA LONGER then American Lifan and you will have NO problem with licensing his bikes.

To answer your question, yes the Skygo is a real Lifan motorcycle and Lifan China is the one who has required Hooper Imports to use the Skygo name.

Look in this thread from a few months back. Here I compared the same bike sold by Hooper and American Lifan. The only difference between the bikes were stickers and the price.

Actually, Hooper sells the (Skygo branded) LF250, LF200iii and LF200GY2, and American Lifan sells the LF250B, LF200B and LF200GY5. Not the same models.

Best,
tcs

If it is not an American Lifan you will not get parts, you may be better off with a Skygo.
However this should be a price difference I would b**ch about.

I didn't want an "American Lifan". I just wanted to make sure it was still a lifan bike. Thanks for the replies and clarification. I did buy it from Hooper Imports, and was very happy with the service there, I was just a little confused because the bike in the picture on the website was the LF200-GY. I'm guessing there was some fine print explaining this that I didn't bother to read.

Thanks again, I'm going to go try and assemble my bike now

Just for the record, my VIN begins with LF, just like my friend who has a LF200GY-5...
