That's the same engine as that 400 enduro we have debated and discussed a few times already, I think.

GRX 400
Something strange in there:
First they claim 36 HP and then say it does 90mph. It should be able to crack the 100mph barrier easily with that power. A bit further down the specs it says Max output is 20 kw. That is 26.8 HP. This is much more likely, where did that 36HP figure come from? Some of what is described as "top features" are silly: Hydraulic suspension...wow Horn...wow Free Windshield...would be, it's attached to the fairing Passenger footpeg...excellent! Free toolkit...standard on everybike in the known Universe (except harleys) Free users manual...great. Never seen one before. As usual the Makers name is absent. Is this to make sure we can't check for its reputation on forums?. It's actually made by an outfit called Xingyue Group Co., with model number XY400GY and they also make lots of scooters and buggies, etc, some as crazy as this one: The engine is used on go-karts and also on this cruiser:

not to compare the different styles, but a new suzuki 650 savage is around $4200 for a well tried platform, made since 1986, and has 30 real hp. i would imagine a late model used machine would be less than the china 400. it would also put one in range of a clean used dr650, klr650 or honda 650.

I can get a new 08 V-strom-650 right now for $5900, yeah I know its almost twice the cost but I wouldnt be afraid of it falling apart at 90mph either.
(I've read a V-strom will top out at just under 180MPH-I wouldnt do that on a china bike just yet) (Just because something can go 90MPH doesnt mean it should. ) Unless the new higher HP china bikes are actually being built to a higher standard I think we'll see faster stuctural breaks, of course time will tell the story on that. |

yeh that's nuts
Doubt they will sell many....and they call it a sport bike when it's clearly not. They're getting greedy, based on the success of the little chinabikes they think they can cash in....I bet the chinese manufacturer is getting about 1500 fob for 'em.

Well, just to play devil's advocate, I'll jump in here
While, I Agree that for the same money, you *could* get into a used Savage, or a recycled DR series, If nothing else, at least with the MIC 400 on the market, we now have another option! I can't speak for everyone's market, but the used bike market is long, long over due for a market correction. Example: A 1982 CB650 Custom just sold for $3250. here! (I Know, I sold it!) Realistically, dude could have got a Hyo, or a cheap DR, and had a fresh bike, never dropped, never nailed. I would also dare say, as long as we have forums like this, it takes a lot more research, and general knowledge to buy a used UJM, and not get screwed (Bent frame, Trashed Learner Bike, Ridden by Flip-flop wearing squid, whatever) than it does to properly prep and PDI a new China-Bike. Especially, in the "First Bike" category, would you rather try to sync 4 1982-vintage Honda Kei-hin Carbs, with 1 blown diaphragm, or clean out the gel packs on 1 MIC Variable Venturi Carby? You could probably buy 3 China-Carbys for what the 1 diaphragm costs, and the learning curve is a lot smoother, IMHO To get back to the orginal subject material-- That's a nice looking bike, and hopefully it's only the beginning of medium displacement bikes from china-- Maybe more people can afford to enjoy Not running a SUV in summer! --Vince

with a used japan bike there are many places to have ones ignorance replaced with knowledge. with the china 400 you set sail into unknown waters. who you going to turn to rabbit? good luck. the price of admission is high and the level of confidence is low.
