There are more folks...
http://thekneeslider.com/archives/20...ard-motorcycle http://www.gizmag.com/go/4083/picture/11429 Halve any claims made on battery longevity and also on range, and add 50-75% to claimed recharging times. The thing with electric vehicles at the present time is the excessive hype and large amounts of ![]()

For just puttering around they would probably not be bad at all. The battery tecnology is just not up to par yet for me to trust electric vehicles completally

I would have to test one out before I paid what they are asking for that bike.although if there are replacement parts offered etc......I think its awesome.....and probably lower maintenance for sure....I saw one on ebay before.11 000 bucks.looked really good though!.although I agree Im not sure were in the future enough........yet.......but soon we will all be on an electric vehicle...I bet they will run alot better as well in the future.even better than gasoline engines for sure!

The problem I see with electric anything is the recharge time. 200Km range is meaningless if/when it runs out I have to wait hours for a recharge.
At present the only real option would be a battery exchange program (a la propane). This would be pretty easy on a bike since the battery sizes would be much smaller. They're currently doing this in some parts of Asia with electric taxi cabs.

I kind of put my hope in the super capactitors that they are working on and will be putting in our cell phones and stuff soon.
They charge all most instantly and have far far greater energy storage than current batteries and last much longer but they are still years away at best. Once the energy storage and recharge is reasonable we will be running electrics all over the place. |

Just an example of the problem with the outlandish claims made for electric vehicles is this article. Note that the car hasn't actually been built, what you see is a mock up with a nice beefy v8 engine...but they're claiming that the electric production version will, with a 10 minute charge, go 200 miles. This is plainly crap.
If the car is powered by a 36kW/h battery, which its maker claims may be quick-recharged in 10 minutes. Neglecting any losses, It can be calculated that this would require a supply of 216kW, nearly 1,000 amps at 240 volts! This would need a large industrial three-phase supply, not normally available at home, and demonstrates the ignorance of those who extol the virtues of battery-electric cars. http://motoring.sky.com/carspy/light...-blogpost.aspx

The only thing i can figure is that they are really talking about topping the charge off in ten minutes! That is, after a drive around the block perhaps.

The reason I got my chinabike was because I bought an electric bike that was so slow and underpowered that I concidered it a RIPOFF. They let me trade for a 150cc. I never looked back. The difference between my electric bike and my 150cc was worlds apart. I am so glad I returned that darn E-bike, and they had a chinabike that I could trade for.
