Why are you waiting for a Lifan?

A quick peek at CL shows this Rocketa posted yesterday - http://charleston.craigslist.org/mcy/811268610.html

Just curious why you'd rather wait than look outside of your area or consider a different make of bike. There are some differences in the makes, but I'm not sure it's enough difference to wait any length of time.

And if you're REALLY set on a Lifan...come and get mine.

Why would AL receive a new shipment of GY5 frames when GY6's seem much nicer and would be the way to go IMO. If AL wants to differentiate themselves with the other China GY5 bikes, then going GY6 would be one way to do it.

Shipments

I doubt they would bring over the GY-6. Im not saying that they wouldnt or they will never but if they were, wouldnt we be hearing alot more about it. Heck AL has the LF400 on their page under products and I dont know anyone yet that has gotten them or is selling one.

To bring in the LF400 they would need to go through certification for DOT/EPA/Etc on the engine, brakes, and all. The 200 is already certified and I don't believe frame modifications would require the rest of the bike to be re-certified, but I'm not 100% sure on that one... If Lifan wants to justify their high prices, and set themselves apart from the other China bikes then this would be one way to do it. Anyway, just a thought.

The American Lifan LY200GY6 has been listed as a certified model on the US EPA list since 2007.
