I think it is possible...
to stuff a honda cb350 or similar engine into a gy200 frame.
Can anyone tell me how big a cb350 engine is :?: (engine with just carbs and overall dimensions (L+H+W) I think I might try it this winter if I can get the info I need and maybe a cheap enough mostly complete cb350. My little enduro would look cool with a dual exhaust but I wonder how the rest of the bike(frame) would hold up. (probably not well but in the end I'd get a new bike of some sort  if I live) Its not so much the HP I'm after although 30+ is better than the 16 its the dual exhaust look I like. And before I get all the "why dont ya just" replies keep in mind that I have thought about a lot of various options but it is the, doing this conversion that excites me. The biggest thing holding me back from doing it is the scrapping of a good or salvagable cb350.If I can find a cheap, clean, titled cb350 I would most likely just run it. (no one worries about hacking up a china bike ) |

Hmm no comments yet anyway I hope to win an auction for a basket case 73 CB350.
If I get that I expect to lose some weight as my wife will be chewing on my butt. If I do get this one it should be fresh once it's running as it needs a bore and of course pistons and rings and then a valve job. Oh well I doubt I'll win as I dont plan to up the bid amount but thats OK there are others. |

I'll do it, if YOU do it. (If you figure out a cheap way to do it, and give step by step instructions, and don't destroy the frame, and get killed in the process, and it works like you want it to.)LOL.

I'm with Mr InTheSky. That's a truly worthy project!
I'm currently moving, so my CB350 is not here, but if you've gots some time, I can measure her up for you later in the week... --Vince

Nothing to miss right now I just was wondering thats all.
I hope to get a donor bike soon and stick it in the corner of the garage for a while until winter sets in and then start in on it. I just want a bit more power and that real dual exhaust look. |

TeamCheap,
Take a look a an engine from a Ninja 250. It's small, narrow and light. And it looks like it will fit right in. If you're brave, a Ninja 500 uses the same case as the 250.... I like the idea of a 14,000 rpm redline in a street and trail too! I was thinking about this swap before I got my DR650. A CB350 engine is pretty wide and heavy. That combined with the bottom end torque gives me some concerns about the frame holding up. The Ninja's power really dosen't hit until around 11,000 r's and comes on gradually. But I'd like to see a China bike with almost any bigger engine swapped in. A local guy has a CBR 600 engine for sale... $150 and it runs! 8O |

The CB350 engine does cause me some concerns as far as it fitting but I'd most likely have to use the CB's complete lower frame around the engine to stiffen up the china bike and they appear to be in abundant supply so parts are out there.
I like what I have read about the power band on the CB's also and think it would still be rideable off in the trails but much more fun on the road . If the CB I end up finding has a title for it and is in decent enough shape I'll most likely just run it as it is after doing some repair/MODS . |

I will PM you the LWH, without the size of the cone filter. I guess you could do it smaller with a sock instead of a cone. I wrote before that it might make a good cheap mod, but I think knothead's right. The 350, (324cc) is to big and heavy. Though I can buy 12 cb350 motors tomorrow, tonight if the guy is still awake, I don't know where to get a single 250 ninja motor. They don't last long around here. It's 13.5" 14.5" 19".

You could just go the route of taking from the chinabike all the necessary parts to make the CB run....just a thought.

My Idea exactly!
The china motors arn't that powerful, but they are dependable, cheap, fuel sipping engines. Stick one in a cb frame. I can get a cb frame with title for $150. The cb frames suck. That's from a proud owner. But I do think they are better than (MY) china bike frame. I think my CB frame would be perfect for a 250cc china motor. $500-$700 maybe, but a reliable, dependable, cheap bike.
