Welcome in, Mike!

A lot of good stuff in here that will take you a while to soak in, but take your time. There is always someone here that will help or at least try.

I am a American Lifan dealer and if I can do anything to make your decision easier, I will do my best to help. The GY-5 is a nice ride and if you haven't seen one in person, you may want to visit a dealer near you to check one out. Of course, the Roketa isn't bad either, certainly a lot of these being rode on here as well.

Florida must be full of bikers, most of the riders from this forum seem to be grounded there, at least here lately, but that shouldn't suprise anyone. Between Florida and the Big Island, just about a year round season.

Welcome aboard Mike,
First let me explain the Cool boy obsession, some of the earlier GY-2 & GY-5's had a sticker on the rear panels that said "COOL BOY" but they are getting hard to come by now but if you do happen to buy a bike with the coveted cool boy stickers, NEVER remove them as they are a sacred piece of China bike equiptment and are highly treasured in this community..That said, if you have any questions, feel free to ask...

Hi,
welcome, your right there are a bunch of us here are in Florida, and boy is the weather great today. I almost played hooky today.

To expand a little on what Ambassador said; Only the early GY's had the Cool Boy sticker along with a bunch of other goofy decals. Most of the early adopters of these bikes where embarrassed by the goofiness and removed them or painted over them. Thus the rarity, and now they are coveted by those of us who are proud to be seen on a very inexpensive bike.

Also Frostbite who is wise in all things, saw fit to base the forum member status of the Cool Boy theme, adding to the mystique.

thanks for the warm welcome. i have always had a motorcycle in various forms, mostly cruisers. i just sold my suzuki boulevard m50. i was wanting something multi-talented like my jeep, with no monthly payment. these china bike seem to fit the bill. i figure when i decide to do a little off-roading with the family, the wife can drive the jeep, kids on the atv, & me on the dual-sport. good cheap fun.

welcome.

Chris i still have to go check those trails. my buddy that is always out there in his jeep says there's atleast 50 miles of trails. he's a bit crazy though and what he considers trails most consider unpassible. every time we go out with him we end up wenching him outta some nasty stuff that he shoudl have known better than to go through :P .
as soon as my bike is up and running again i'll be back out there. maybe i'll trailer it out there this weekend if i get the chance.

the people here are really cool, i dont think i've seen one comment here of someone being a jerk or flaming someone else.. i think the thing that is nice is that everyone here is whatever, we all own similar bikes, and have similar situations to work with.. so its not like everyone with different brands are flaming each other because "theirs is better"

Ghosts of Thumpertalk? The biggest problem with the other sites is that you are dealing with 13 year olds, or at least the metality of 13 year olds stuck in their "mine is cool, your's sucks" attitude. C'mon, I liked high school, but don't want to go back in time to it.
