Fixed my exaust leaks
Tried with out success to tighten the clamp between the head pipe and the muffler to fix an exaust leak. Also the head pipe was leaking at the head. Decided to tackle both leaks at the same time.
Bought a copper ring gasket on Ebay for $2.50. While I had the head pipe off, I put some red Hi-Temp sealer in and around the head pipe to muffler joint. All nice and quiet now. I am noticeing more pops in the exaust on deceleration. Not sure if there really is more popping going on or if it is just more noticeable. Also the bike did not get a chance to warm up and might be a contributing factor. |

You should be able to get one from a honda dealer or a motorcycle shop. Ask for one for an xr200 or an xl185 or atc200 etc.

and the popping was just part of the bike being cold. It doesnt pop very often at all after warming up.

From what I understand. These are one time use too.

An exhaust pop is usually a lean condition, as in higher flowing intake or exhaust, as in your new Uni. You might want to pull the jet needle under the slider and move the clip one notch down.

In this case it was just cold and popping a little as it warmed up. after a couple of minutes the engine smoothes out perfectly. I think I just made notice of it because everything else was so much quieter.
