Hello from Georgia

Hello,

I just purchased a Red 2006 Lifan 200cc. I am 21 and have never rode a bike before and found a pretty good deal on this one. It looks/feels like a good bike to learn on so I'm pretty stoked about it.

However, I've noticed information is limited on these bikes so I was wondering if I can get some basic info? What kind of MPG should I expect? Also, I read somewhere that the top speed was like 45 and that really needs to be changed for me. I need 55 or 60 just so I don't get ran over around here. I'm not looking to be a speed demon or anything, just be able to keep up with traffic. I think I needed to change to a smaller sprocket or something??

That's another issue, I know NOTHING about bikes so any tips would be appreciated.

I do not have any riding gear at the moment and do not plan on riding until I have at least a helmet (State law anyways). What other gear do I need?

Thanks,
-Jason

Welcome!

Several dual sport owners on the forum will be able to answer your questions about sprocket size and availability, etc. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, feel free to search the Dual Sport section.

Welcome. Where in GA?

I have an 06 Lifan dual sport. mileage about 65-70mpg and with a 45 rear sprocket it will do the speeds your after. Max is about 70mph.

Recommend a minimum Helmet, Jacket, gloves for street riding.

Commerce, Georgia which is about an hour from Atlanta and 30 minutes from Athens.

Do you have any info on getting parts for these bikes locally? Or maybe not even locally? I am in need of a rear hub for sure

Welcome to these forums, Jason!

I highly recommend that you take a motorcycle rider safety course. This course will teach you the mental strategies and physical skills needed to ride safely on the street. The course will also teach you a lot about the selection of proper riding gear.
