Not if you dont finish it
Your 400cc project is interesting but I wonder how the rest of the bike will hold up to the increased power.

I myself would love to stuff a cb350 engine into my gy-5's frame but I doubt I could make it fit.
More than anything I want the dual exhaust but the smooth extra power would be nice to.

I really dont see anyone buying one of these bikes for that price its just to close to the drz400 .Actually you can buy a drz400 for right around that price if you look hard enough and settle for a brand new last years model.

I agree; that bike is highly overpriced. The Pister Pro LXT 400 is far nicer, and will be selling for $3,399 (if we ever hear from them again).

However, a good, used, DRZ 400 is probably a better bet than either of those two chinabikes.

Atleast "bandit motorsports" shows them listed as "in stock".

I would love to see two pro riders that are closely matched do a side by side comparison ride between this 400cc china bike and a drz400.
Both bikes stock out of the box and then after that any and all modding the riders want done and actually both riders would have one of each bike.(Yeah I'm dreaming but it would be nice to see)

They have two models:
DS-400A
DS-400B

For $1,000 less, I would certainly wait for the Pitster Pro LXT 400 to arrive in stock. Do you have any doubt which bike would win the side-by-side comparison, TC?

No doubts here.... but it would still be interesting to see the spread in performance and then convert the price difference to see how it all lines up.

A 400cc china bike that costs almost as much as a drz400 should also be built almost as well in my opinion, it should all be relative.

Then again we'd have to give the china bike atleast a few years of refinements to even start to catch up to a bike that has been in production and through years of refinement already.

Anyway it will never happen not for atleast a few years and that is only after the china bike has pushed its way it front of enough people to get noticed.

I'm still glad to see them here and for sale anyway its a start.

That is one of the best quotes I have ever read, TC! It reminds me very much of Yogi Berra, and I mean that as a compliment!

I agree. I truly wish the Pitster Pro LXT 400 had not disappeared from the radar screen for so long; however, I am sure it will resurface, sooner or later.

pitster 400

As you know ,I lamented that after i purchased the zong a PITSTER PRO dealership opened in an existing trailer sales place about 45 miles from me.I don't know why ,but I emailed him and he told me they now have the 400 pitster in stock and ready for me to come ride, all I can say is dam! this always happens to me so I'll ride the zong and wait a year and see how the reviews pan out.I am pretty sure I better not go ride it I don't have the room for 2 bikes let alone 3.

What would a used one be worth? Say, 2 years old and in good shape? On my little China bike I can afford to loose abit on the resale. Just wondering how resale would effect in costs of ownership?

In my oppinion, someone needs to get some of these bikes out in the public for some feedback. No one wants to be a guinne pig and that would include the dealers. I trusted what others on this site were saying about the bike I ended up buying. Not sure if an ad on Ebay alone would have done it for me.

I'm with Spud. used DRZ. The CB gamble is only fun at the low end of the price spectrum. Like roulette. (And no I don't gamble. To me gambling seems like a tax on people who don't understand statistics).

That is an excellent point, Joe! State 8 Motorcycle & ATV of Penninsula, Ohio, posted an ad for a 2009 KLR650 selling for $3,988! No freight, dealer prep, or other bogus charges were added; the total cost was $3,988, plus sales tax and title fee.

Some of these chinabike dealers are very greedy; the markup on this DS-400A must be exorbitant! :(
