Has anyone changed there mirrors on there Zongshen?

I thought I have seen a bike or two on here that had different mirrors but I couldn't find them again. If so where did you get them and what do they fit? TW200? Thanks, Alan

I have used the following mirrors on my Zong, with good success. The first pair of mirrors holds their position fairly well when new, but they do get loose with age.

The next pair of mirrors is currently mounted on my Zong. These mirrors are smaller, but they are securely tightened by nuts on the mirror stem; I like these mirrors a lot. However, the first set of mirrors presents a larger view, and they might be more resistant to damage if you drop the bike. Please note, the price listed at the link below is for a single mirror.

The Zong will accept any mirrors that employ a 10mm, right-hand thread.

thanks spud! I knew I had seen a bike here with square mirrors but I looked at some recent pix of our bike and the mirrors were round so I wasn't sure whose bike it was I had seen. the stock mirrors on my bike aren't wide enough for me to see whats behind of me. Did you change your mirrors out for looks or was there another reason?

You're welcome, Alan. If you want a wider view, I suggest you get the mirrors from Hoosier Garage. I changed my mirrors to improve both their function, and their appearance. The stock mirrors stop holding their position after a while, and they have a small rearward view. The Hoosier Garage mirrors are inexpensive, crash resistant, and superior to the stock mirrors in both appearance, and function.

I like the BikeMaster mirrors even better than the Hoosier Garage mirrors, but they definitely have a much smaller, rearward view. Also, the BikeMaster mirrors cost twice as much as the Hoosier Garage mirrors.

Alan, here are a couple of photographs I took last October, before I switched to my current, BikeMaster mirrors. These photos might help you get some idea of the rearward view in the Hoosier Garage mirrors, and their appearance on the Zong.

mirrors

I have the cheaper of the 2 models of folding mirrors that dennis kirk sells.I think spud provided a link, they were around $10 a pc. .Once i figured out how to tighten up the folding mechanism, because one had become very floppy. They also work well because of the very large range of adjustment. The area with the rubber sleeve is were they fold.

I am so impressed with that carrrier, Fishman.

I like the look of those mirrors, Spud. All I have to offer on this is that the original Zong mirrors were good, clear, solid, and offered a good view to the rear without being blocked by your shoulder.

thanks guys, my left mirror drops down as i ride on the road at highway speeds, the vibration doesn't feel that bad to me at the time but after about 20+ minutes of highway riding my hands are numb and start to hurt and the mirror has dropped down 3 or 4 times. i believe the vibration is normal but is there anyway to git rid of some of it? it's pure motor, no tires or anything, just 7000 rpm vibration. no problem at all when ridding under 55-60 mph.

You’re correct, Alan; the vibration is normal. Be happy you got a Zong; some of these little thumpers buzz a lot more than the Zong does. In fact, a lot of the 200cc thumpers, Chinese and otherwise, are unable to cruise over 60 mph for any extended period of time.

spud that was one of my concerns with changing the rear sprocket to a 50 tooth, i believe it would be unbearable for a long highway ride with even more rpms, what do you think?

If you enjoy the stock, 15T/46T gearing, I think you should stick with it. However, I certainly would not gear the Zong any higher than stock. If you want more power, I encourage you to install the FMF Turbine Core 2 silencer.

vibration

I don't really think the vibration is bad on my zong at 60, but i wear a pair of mechanix gloves that are fabric but padded with leather in the palm and fingers.I believe that helps alot, but i also ride a harley 88 cu.inch so maybe I'm used to it.Doc the hauler is proving very handy, the other day I needed to take the truck to have some work done on it, so I loaded the bike on the rack, dropped off the truck and rode on to work.

That's great, Alan. After the Turbine Core 2 arrives, please start a new thread, and post some photos. I am sure many Zong owners will benefit from your questions, and your experience, as you mount the Turbine Core 2.

Fill your handlebar with lead shot. There used to be a device called a Bar Snake which was just lead wrapped in rubber or something.

Spud has a good point. The Zong will go 70, so there's actually an advantage.

Don't ride it anywhere where the speed limit is over 55 MPH. Don't ask me how I know.
