2006 GY-5 200cc...No longer available
Nashville, TN.
My house was flooded. Bikes wound up under 6 feet of water in the garage. Anybody ever salvaged a bike from a flood?? Gonna clean them up as soon as I can get time and see if anything is good enough for parts. I was at work and the family couldn't get them to high ground. My family is safe, that's the important part. Bill |

I really wish you lived closer, I'm in Fayetteville, ga and have no way to transport it, I wonder how much it would cost to ship, I'll give you $850 if you deliver

How many miles could I expect to get out of this? This would be a perfect gas saver for me.

Bill, I think if you dry it all out and hit the electric parts with wd40 and the dielectric grease you may be able to salvage them.
Dump the oil and gas and clean the tanks. Allen

Maybe try and fill the crank case with diesel and slosh it around abit to get any moisture out. Then refil with oil. Once you get it running try to keep it running for an hour or so for the heat to help dry it out more.
I also realise you have more important things to do than work on the bike. Really sorry to hear about the flood and its damage. Best wishes to you and your family and neighbors. |

Sorry to hear about the flood and happy your family is safe.
Bikes should be salvageable with some effort, when you get the time. Sooner rather than later of course to avoid the mass rust. |

Just dump the oil and gas drain the carb also pour a little oil down the spark plug hole and pull it over a few times if you don't plan on working on it for a bit this will keep the rusties from getting your rings and cylinder walls. As for the rest try to get it to somewhere dry that's heated. Should be okay. remember these are power toys and they can take a bit of abuse.

Update on the drowned bikes
Thanks for all the suggestions and thoughts.
I finally got the house "deconstructed" and had a chance to look at the bikes. :( My MZ Skorpion: Cleaned off all the contacts, dielectric grease and reconnected. Hooked up a battery...no juice anywhere. Fuses OK, no wire breaks I can see. :( I wasn't able to empty the water out of the cylinder for 3-4 days. I loaded it with oil then, but now it's dripping rust out with the flush. ![]() I don't have the heart to even look at the Lifan. I've turned both in to FEMA as losses. No idea what happens next. If they reimburse, I guess I have to turn the bikes in for salvage?? If not, I'll probably part them out myself. Good thing is we're all OK and digging out. And I found a replacement MZ Skorpion. Update in "Other Stuff" when I get it. Bill |
