Question about H4 9003 bulb on Zong?
I bought a 9003 H4 bulb and plug and installed it on the Zong and the problem is that the low beam is kind of yellow and dim. I wired it correctly i believe, on the 3 prongs, i wired it starting on clutch side ground, center low beam, throttle side high beam. The low beam is not any brighter than the stock bulb but the bright is very white and bright. I replace the plug (i bought a plug for H4 9003 bulb and high temp) Is the low beam suppose to be like that? thanks in advance

Did you trim away a small notch at the bottom of the H4 bulb? Also, you did not need to do any trimming to the Zongshen headlight housing. Perhaps you got a bad H4 bulb. If you can, please post some photos. Spud

on the bulb near the center tab for the plug in, there were two tabs on the inside lip of the bulb. i bent them inside the lip and the light fit perfectly flush. i don't understand it, the high beam is great, very bright, but the low beam is dull and the light is somewhat yellow, not at all like a halogen.

It appears to me you did everything correctly, Alan. I wired my H4 socket the same as you, and my headlight works perfectly. Please do keep us updated. If you have time, we would also love to see photos of your work.

it works great, i can see at night now! I thing it will work fine, i have the LED tail light and i took the little bulb out of the headlight so that should help it out enough to be able to run it without hurting the stator. what do you think?
And Spud, how many H4 lights have you had to replace and how many miles did you get out of them? thanks for all the help, Alan |

The 60W/55W, H4 bulbs produce a lot of light; I am very glad I made this modification. I am sure you will enjoy the extra illumination. I am still using the first H4 bulb I installed, and it has taken quite a beating while riding offroad! The H4 bulbs are much more rugged, and better manufactured than the stock, BA20D bulbs. Now, when your headlight extinguishes, you can easily find an H4 replacement bulb at any auto parts store, or Wal-Mart! If you get time, please post some photos of your modification. Spud
