easy way is to just cut the stock grips off with a exacto knife.. to make a solution of soapy water only use a few drops of soap, pour the soapy water over the bar ends and slide the new grips on. then live the bike sitting in the sun for a day for the water and soap to dry on the inside of the grips..

atleast thats how i did it on my quad when i had to replace the grips

If you search the internet, you will find a variety of ways to mount the grips, Alan. If you use compressed air, you can go riding right away, without waiting for any "drying time."

or, grab the old ones at the start of the grip (away from bar end) then pull as hard as you can s it begins to lift off, get sme wd40 down there and itll slide right off, same with putting them on, wd40 on the inside of the grip starting from the tip then put it between you two hands, flattern it and roll it round to get the wd40 everywhere inside the grip, itll slide on nice and easy and will dry very quick too

Air works well.

I use either Scott's Grip Glue or hair spray. Come to think of it the ex took the hairspray when she left so it's just grip glue now.

I have heard of people using WD-40 and other same type lubricants for grips and mounting tires on rims. I cant imagine all of the lubrication evaporating. My brother had a grip come off in his hand while showing a neighbor how good he was at wheelies.

My old MX bike had solid bars and it was easy to pop the new grips on with palm of my hand. The compressed air trick sounds great and like was said earlier, you can go riding right away.

Yeah. Don't do that!

Soapy water is OK. Just water sometimes is good. For the grips anerobic glue is best, other things work too. Some people safety wire the grips. I do not, ardaid of getting cut with the wire.

I am assuming that you insert the nozel of a blow gun between the bars and the grip. A blast of air would lift the grip off the suface of the bars like a hoovercraft.

Also effective for ear wax removal.

Indeed save the ear wax. It is the original lubricant specified for chain lubrication on all their exported motorcycles.
