Pitster 400 and the Lack-o-Trip meter

So, what do ya'all think? To me it looks like the instrument cluster from a pitster 250 is a shoe in for the existing cluster. I cannot live without a trip meter and I don't want to have any extra 'stuff' hanging in my view. Ideas?

errr, no.
the LXT400 from Pitster does not come with a digital anything. -But I'm wondering if one would drop right in. I've asked the Pitster folks but haven't received an answer. Actually, I've asked them a bunch of time even for a recomendation and I get zip. Granted it isn't they job to satisify my curiosity, but Christmas is comming and screwing around with a petcock in traffic is not an acceptable solution to running out of fuel.

Welcome to these forums, George; we are glad you joined us. The Pitster Pro website contains several errors describing the LXT 400 motorcycle. The LXT 400 instrument cluster contains an analog, engine temperature gauge, speedometer, and odometer.

Daddy, I recommend a Trail Tech Vapor computer for your LXT 400. Among other things, this unit contains a digital tachometer, speedometer, engine temperature gauge, clock, and trip odometer! Run a pickup coil wire to your left fork, and you can ditch the speedometer cable on your right fork.

i 2nd the trail tech device, check out the videos on youtube of it.. trailt ech also makes a temp reader that has a painless install and if you put the the time in for researching how to install a gas gauge it shouldnt be to hard to add one..

Q, which uses a similar instrument cluster lacks a trip meter. Big PIA. Also add in that the odometer reads kilometers it's a bit more inconvienent.

I just memorize the last 3 digits and go from there. I then use the speedometer face plate to convert kilometers to miles.

FastDoc,
Are you kidding? Memorize the last three digits? I can't even even remember my phone number or why I went out to the shop to get something.

Anyway, someone help me find one of those little plastic gizmos that had digits that you could set to act as a trip meter. I looked all over the net but no luck. I can see me running out of gas on reserve.

I've been waiting for the Pitster owners to reply, since they can verify the accuracy of their statements. I don't own an LXT 400, but I have test ridden the bike, so I will try to answer your questions. If I make any unintentional errors, I hope the Pitster owners will correct me.

The bike I rode did have the wheel and tire sizes listed in the Pitster Pro specifications. I might be wrong, but I believe the shock absorber on the LXT 400 I rode had adjustable spring preload, but no adjustable rebound. As stated previously, the bike doesn't have a digital speedometer with trip meter; it has the same, analog speedometer as the QLink XF200/XP200.
